Thinking of adding Butterfly/ fairy wings...
Hey guys,
I'm thinking of adding butterfly and fairy wings as an added package. Do you guys know of any good wholesale place that has these? or a good how to site with detailed info? I've already read through a lot of these, but I was hoping someone out there those their own as well. Do you make and sell them? let me know the price with shipping. Thanks!

Re: Thinking of adding Butterfly/ fairy wings...
Someone on here makes them. There are some pretty good youtube videos on how to make them as well.

Oriental Trading is good for those bulk party type import things. Sometimes you can find cute-ish ones at the Dollar Tree if you time it right. Higher quality ones would definitely have more "cache" with the party crowd or in a festival environment. Good luck!!!
Re: Thinking of adding Butterfly/ fairy wings...
making fairy wings is pretty easy. I just use nylon knee-highs and 16 gauge wire. I have not found a cost effective way to ship, they are light but bulky. Maybe if I found a way to crank them out faster it would be worth it, but for the size I make it's about a $40 (very roughly) ground shipping charge plus what ever I charge for the wings ($25-$100 depending on size and details). I didn't go through the post office, I went to a pak mail. I know costume stores get cheapy manufactured wings that they can sell quite inexpensively but I don't know where from.
Re: Thinking of adding Butterfly/ fairy wings...
Yeah I worked for Masters Tuxedo but you have to have a wholesalers license or something they would get it for like less than a dollar and resell for like $5-10.... I really want to learn how to make cute ones....
Re: Thinking of adding Butterfly/ fairy wings...
I'm pretty sure it's Cat that makes them. Don't shoot me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure she has found a great easy way to make awesome looking wings.
Have a look on her site.

Those are beautiful, Metzpah! Do you mind me asking how long it takes you to make a pair of wings?

ah shucks thanks everyone, just wanted to show I do know what I am talking about lol.
it takes me a few days to make mine because I dawdle a bit, but I also do the painting all by hand and sometimes they have longish drying stages.

Re: Thinking of adding Butterfly/ fairy wings...
WOW Metzpah, they are fantastic!! How do you put them on? Now I wanna make some too, just like balloons and henna and everything else I see that I like *G*. At least I want to for a couple of minutes - after that I just continue admiring your wings...

Metzpah:
Do you make them in mini baby sizes? My daughter's 1st birthday is coming up and those would be adorable on her.
I met a lady at my last party who makes these really beautiful tulle skirts. She folds the tull over to create a thick puffy layer and puts holographic shaped confetti in between the layers. I asked her to contact me about trading services ...I hope she actually calls me

I just looked up the instructions online and it was super easy. Just twist the wire into the wing loop, cover with the nylon stocking, there are various methods to keeping the stocking on, I twist the end until the nylon is taut, then sew it in place. Shape the wing, I like to shape them in two's to keep a semblance of symmetry, Paint all the wing pieces. Twist them together, use excess nylon to cover the wires, add ribbon and glue on decorations. viola.
Re: Thinking of adding Butterfly/ fairy wings...
