Thinking of adding themed parties, how much to charge?
I have been wanting to start offering complete party packages as well as fp for a while. Today I have actually had a chance to start researching suppliers and figure out costs (being home sick can be useful for something).
What I will be offering is:
-Goody bags
-A craft
-A game
-A customized party hat/tiara for the birthday boy/girl
-A costumed character(me)
-An hour's worth of face painting
Each party will last about an hour and a half (at least the parts I am involved in).
My question for you guys, is what should I charge? The costs for me vary depending on the theme. Each party will cost about $90 in supplies(calculated for about a dozen children). I was thinking of charging a $200 flat rate for a dozen kids, $5 for every child after that. What do you guys think is a fair price?

I think the face painting alone is worth $100 for a dozen kids, then your supplies are costing you $90 - so is it worth the extra $10 to dress up, make up the goody bags, personalised party hat/tiara & do a craft activity?
Re: Thinking of adding themed parties, how much to charge?
Unfortunately, I live in an area where the clients are either a) stingy rich people, or b) low to middle income people struggling in the economy, so I don't really think that I could charge much more and still book parties.
The $90, however, is just for the first party of that theme. A lot of the supplies that I am ordering come with more than a dozen pieces (the temporary tattoos for the pirate party, for example, come with 72 pieces, which will last for six parties) So for five out of six parties, I will actually be making around $150 in profit instead of the $110.
I think that a couple of these parties every weekend (If I can drum them up) would be very worthwhile for me. I would be spending about the same time on each party that I already do face painting, but I would be making nearly twice as much.
I should also mention that part of the price of supplies is because I am using reusable totes (decorated with the party theme and stenciled with my business logo) as goody bags. I figure that the birthday child's parent will be reminded of me every time they see the personalized hat, and the party guests won't be able to forget me because of the bags.

I would not know about this but good luck and let us know how it turns out. (if u decide to go for it)

The think is, they are going to spend about $300 on the party already. You are adding the value of it being super easy for them. I think you should really charge at least $300! If you need to give discounts, you can do that, but I really think you should start at a higher price.
Plus, here are a few other ideas you can add (they can be extra money):
Photography, themed cake, a special goody bag or present for the birthday girl/boy, booking a venue.
Oh, and definitely calculate how much this would all cost them if they paid retail and did it themselves so you can say "it's a $500 value" or whatever.

It's just something to consider.... You're going to have some parents saying, "how much would it be for X party but without this or that?" I've had a few penny pinchers ask me how much my party would be without the colouring books and crayons.... NOT an option. The colouring books are my promotional material, going without it? I'd probably charge you MORE.
Be prepared for the question and either have a price for each "add-on" with a cheaper package price OR no option to change it around. Don't just discount because they cut something or you'll end up undervaluing yourself, they're just trying to squeeze more out of you for less.

Carefull not to disregard the amount of time you will put into putting the goody bags together, and wash/wear and tear of your costume.
A good party for 12 kids around here ... ( I realise I"m on the other side of theworld and in an expensive city to live in)... would cost at least $250 for the entertainer..... damn I spent nearly $10 on each goody bag at my daughters birthday... that's already $120.... plus the face painting I did myselff... worth at least $80.... and you come in character and do games and craft?
I guess if it's doable for you, then go ahead but why not at least try it at $250 and if you get no takers offer 20% off? People love it when they think they are getting a bargain!

I like this idea. I will try it and see what happens.
