A few pic from my first festival
Hey everyone,
So I made it through my first festival!!! And it was AWSOME!! I charged $5 for cheek and single eye art, $8 for half face or mask and $10 for a full face. I worked from 10-6pm and made $325. I dont know if that is good or not?
I was so busy I was only able to take a few pics so I wanted to share.
One of the pics is of a kitty mask, when metina asked for some challenge ideas, i suggested animal masks that do not involve the mouth but still look like that animal....the kitty mask is an example!! I want to work on some more designs!! Kids eat and drink so much at a festival, i hate to have them mess up their masks.
Cant wait to hear all of your oppinions.
Thanks

Wow woman, that is a lot to take on for your first festival.
Make sure you make a checklist of everything you think you will need, and load it the night before ( I can send you a copy of my checklist if you want)
Try to get help if you can
Get there a little extra early, you never know what to expect when you get there, I had to wait for someone to finish unloading before i could even get to my space to unload, it waisted a lot of my time to set up.
Lots of baby wipes, lol
If I can think of anything else i will let you know.

Re: A few pic from my first festival
I usually bring even less than that and manage fine, but it's always good to be prepared....
the only things I would add, that you never know when you might need it is scissors, tape, string, marker, note book. .... oops, just noticed that you do have tape listed... well you can never have too much tape.

Re: A few pic from my first festival
1. Someone to manage the line, take $, take pictures & get consent forms signed, etc.
2.Water to drink(sodas dehydrate)
3. healthy snacks(protein)
4. Oh, & take a break every few hours... face painters have to tinkle too

Re: A few pic from my first festival
I'd go up on your prices for full faces. I have very FEW full faces that I do less than $12.00. I price most of my stuff by how long it takes. And I start Special requests out at $20. I did a small small small festival this weekend in my hometown and did $410 in about 7 hours.
Re: A few pic from my first festival
Get to know surrounding vendors and ask for help when needed. I did it alone and bribed the vendors tweens I trusted to sit and be watchdogs for my stuff when I had to relieve myself - they were a godsend and got painted on a regular basis whatever they wanted for free ; )
I heard the suggestion for lots of coffee - nix that and soda, cause what goes in, gotta go out, creating more bathroom breaks than necessary! Bring LOTS of water the body will need and use, not drain away.
Lots of protein bars to nibble on thru out the day to keep refreshed. An ice cube or crushed ice in a spray bottle is nice to mist the face & arms when the hot wind whipps up.
Just a few suggestions ; )

Great job on the pics! Congrats on doing your first festival! Love the yellow with the glitter. Did you use DFX metallic yellow or gold, and yellow glitter? Thanks for sharing

Behind the spider web is DFX metalix yellow, and I used clear glitter over the top
Re: A few pic from my first festival
DFX metalix sure do look great.
I just looked at your pricing on your website and to be honest--as a non-face painter--I'd be willing to pay you more.

Re: A few pic from my first festival
Great work!
And I would be careful with the coffee. It makes my lines a lot more uneven!
