Newbie Challenge 2014 #4
Welcome to the Newbie Challenge!
This is a place to give us something to practice for the week and get positive feedback on it!
This is a great place for us who are afraid to post along side the professionals!
If you are new you can start on the 1st challenge OR jump in whatever week we are on.
No prizes, just for fun!
Happy Painting!
Newbie Challenge #1: Butterfly
Newbie Challenge #2: Spider man
Newbie Challenge #3: Lines
NEWBIE CHALLENGE #4: Tiger
when I first did this challenge I asked that people post their first tiger ever, and their tiger now--and if you haven't already watch some youtube videos on tiger facepainting, look at picture of real tigers, and then post a tiger after doing those things.
SO--essentially you will post three pictures this week. Hope to see lots of picture!

I don't have a first tiger but I do have a first cheetah, will that work for the progress comparison?

I am JUUUUUST starting out, but I painted a butterfly on my sister and I think it's okay. Nothing fancy because I'm terrible at doing teardrops or dots for some reason, but I'm trying!!

Re: Newbie Challenge 2014 #4
Here is my first professional butterfly! This one is really special to me because the girl in the picture had a terrible experience with another face painter when she was younger. It itched, it left a rash. She kept watching me work through the event and once she told me about what happened with I think acrylic paint I explained about the difference between professional paints and non-toxic paints. That made her feel more comfortable to try a free color swatch on her arm. Later we wiped it off and she was fine. She got a butterfly and thanked me for making her experience a positive one.
I do see some flaws, so I would really love some critiques as to make it better.

Re: Newbie Challenge 2014 #4
Thanks for these!! keep practicing!
AUBS: The linework is really hard for me too--just take an hour (or 10) and practice them on your leg/arm and watch youtube videos if you can. You will improve when you start to get the feel/flow of it.
PAINTED WINGS & WISHES: I am glad she had a good experience with you! Poor girl--no one should be afraid of facepaint. Such detail--nicely done. my only suggestion is making the white outline line much thinner--but I think this is really nice. We see our own flaws more-so be kind to yourself.
My second child has such sensitive eyes I can't use ANY paint around her eyes at all. Even getting close makes them tear up.
