I love mermaids!  These are all great guys!

Here's mine.  I wish I could have used fairy's hints about great light, but I like to paint after kids go to bed, so it is what it is.
I saw another idea about people using rubber stamps and thought I wanted to try it.  This mermaid is from a stamp I carved myself.

Well this was my idea of a mermaid-ish type face painting. Thanks for the idea it was fun!

Hi everyone! I took my car to the shop like this by the way! I worked on it all night and with no notice, my husband wanted me to take the car in. I then walked home as a blue face lady. My neighbor told me I'm becoming the freak of the neighborhood. At least I can stop worrying about that label because it's in the bag! Good luck everyone! I love all of your your designs! You all inspire me everyday. P.S. (After doing my look I saw there may be some confusion as to whether we are allowed to paint our necks for this contest. It never occurred to me that this would be a possible issue but if so, then I am just entering my face if clarification is needed.)




I used the smallest Martha Stewart Pouncer and squished it to get the coral tubes and then went in and shaded and highlighted.





I used a fan brush and white Starblend to achieve the rays of light.


I used gold shimmer dust and my sponge bag to texturize the fins.

Here's my Mermaid design.

Step 1: Make a skin coloured base for the face, body and arms...


Step 2: Paint the tail and top in the colour you like...


Step 3: Sponge a little gold on the tail with a Stencil to make fish scale...

Looks like this....


Step 4: Paint hair in the colour you like or matches the tale colour....


Step 5: Paint the black outlines, a mouth, a tiny nose and eyelashes...


Step 6: Paint the fish scales with a tiny black brush...


Step 7: Add glitter if you like, add highlights with white paint, paint water, fish and waterplants if you like it. Final result...


I made a little neclace just for fun...

Here's my mermaid!  I've been inspired by a ballerina I saw on facebook (forgive me, I forget the artist, but please claim credit if you were the friend!) which used the brown one stroke for the skin!  I used:
Kryvaline: Terra, and Critter
TAG: Yellow and Gold
Wolfe: White and Black





I realized after the contest was actually posted that it needed to be a FACE design, so here she is, adapted onto a face!

hello all! I haven't visited here in a while..but no worries...I'm doing fine, but had a bit of a painters block, sort of... just not feeling it so much...but maybe I'll do something for this challenge! see if I can come up with a good design..

Can't get the pics to post so I'll withdraw my submission. Everyone has such beautiful and unique takes on this concept, I am truly humbled by the talent that is on this board!
