Sneezle, my partner would say you're a BAAAAAD influence. But he's a stick in the mud! I'm going to take advantage of the current forum shop sale, get the palette, and entice my painter friend Moni to combine with me! We'll hit 500 for sure (because I NEED a watermelon too! Just too cute!)
Do we have a paintaholic support group running on here yet? We need one.

my fav thing I did this month is my first prenatal belly painting!!!
wow, what a learning experience-from this day forward, mommy will stand while I "lay out" the design.lol....the belly was perfectly centered while she sat, but when she stood up, the baby moved and everything went lopsided.lol.
super fun!

Wha, ha, my husband would definetly say the same. But some colours and splitcakes you just have to buy I really love the colours of this cake. Awesome.
Nichole, lovely design!!! Specially like your princess teardrop masks!!!
codegirl beautiful roses. Just keep on practicing, i really had to practice and learn how much water i needed to use. Every brand is different. Prisma cakes need a lot of water but my PartyXplosion needs less water. You will get there!

Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Codegirl, maybe you can ask Denise to weigh in on star blends techniques? I've read that she's the go-to person to ask! I bet she has a youtube tutorial on it too!
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Things I'm learning:
-Lizard and dinosaur legs are tough... techniques anyone?
-Smiley faces on butterflies... no thanks!
-One stroke roses: maybe not as hard as they look!
-Round daubers: AWESOME.
Any suggestions are very welcome, and will be taken in purely a constructive way!

Looking at everyone's work has been so motivating! On my phone so hopefully I don't leave anyone out.Â
Rere, I love the belly paintings! The sunflowers are so cheerful and the unicorn is beautiful too!Â
Marielle, great one eye flower, really pretty.
Patty, your designs are really precise, you're definitely very talented. Don't be afraid of the business side, I found out a lot about myself by "bumbling through the hoops." Best of luck to your face painting fun!
Codegirl, very nice roses and batman mask, and cute aliens. Starblends are amazing, great idea for a simple mask. With one strokes practice on loading is key, dip the brush in and either dab a little on a towel or use the edge of the water container to squeegee extra water out, if you have too much on your cake, then tap cake on a towel, wipe of the brush and the reload. Sometimes the paint gets too creamy and you have to wash it all out of the brush and start fresh. I don't know if this will help you but though I'd share.
Nichole, great pictures! I like your new style of photo editing, really catches my attention to collage them like that. Beautiful work!
Melly, love your butterflies and roses! Some very cute designs.
I've been so overwhelmed lately painting has been feeling a little humdrum lately. Got the wonderful opportunity to take a small workshop and thankfully ive been feeling some extra inspiration today. Flourishing faces started a spark to want to improve my ponies and unicorns, so I've been practicing Â
So happy to hear all your wonderful stories and catch up on your recent brushstrokes

Wow, great stuff guys! Â
I had to laugh that that sneaky leprechaun got into my girls face paint kit and painted them in their sleep! Â LOL Â

Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
ohhhh... I've always been jealous of those that can draw/paint horses or ponies. Maybe one day....
And I love when leprechauns are a bit naughty.
Here is today's practice, lots of teardrops and even starblends for the stencil work.

Codegirl, your dedication to learning and improving is really showing!! Line work practice makes you look like a zebra
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Hi everyone, It's been a while since I've posted on this forum   , but I have never stopped practising This is what i've been doing lately: the hearts design I picked up from Pinterest. And I've been trying to paint eyes and eyeballs in a sort of 3d effect...

Love seeing all your practice Codegirl, the leopard print eye looks beautiful. Bountie those eyes are creepy!
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Today's practice... it took me three tries to get one good enough to take a picture of... but not bad considering I've never drawn a pony before today (if I do say so myself) Â Â
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Codegirl you are awesome. Â You inspired me to get practicing my line work!

ohhhh Love the tiger arm! I'm going to work on that on Monday. Some reason I don't get to practice on the weekend (might be because my 3 and 5 year old LOL)

Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
I did this over the weekend as a special request for a vendor at a childrens resale event I was painting at.
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Patty: great arm! I should do that as well, think I'll have a go at the line work tonight;
this weekend I have been practising flowers; they just never look as good as they should do in my head; I think I should place the petals closer together, anyway, I had several "arms" full of them, I took a few pics (tips welcome I just used a few base colours and experimented a bit with different brushes, as it was just for practise!

Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Here's what I've been trying recently for my first paid gig, which is this weekend! Let me know if anything seems too closely inspired by another painter... I know the batman is fairly close to someone else's, as well as the minnie. I've looked through hundreds of images, and then worked from mind/memory, so let me know if I'm stepping on toes! I THINK the lion is a mellygee orginal (I hope!!) and am pretty proud of it
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
PS: Bountie, I LOVE the colour combination you've got on that first arm! The mix of pink and blue is so pretty! May i ask, for the base under the flowers, is that a one stroke? homemade? brushed or sponged? It's beautiful
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Hi Mellygee, gosh, thanks ^^ It's Baby Blues RainbowCake from PartyXplosion and I used a brush.
Nice lion by the way, I should really practise on tigers/lions, but it's hard to find models and my new practise head needs getting used to (the colours won't blend, it looks awful when I paint on that plastic. I guess I need to practise with my practise head o_O )

Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
I'm lucky in that I've roped a friend into learning to paint alongside me... so I get to practice on her as much as I'll let her practice on me! It's a pretty good system, because we take turns, and I think about the details of what I should paint next while I'm in the chair!
That being said... she's a lot stiller than kids are when I paint them, so I have to be careful not to get too comfortable! Practice heads... yeesh. As you can probably tell by my pics, I paint on myself quite a bit! Maybe that would be a good practice alternative for you?
Thanks for the tip on the baby blues! I just placed a monster order with FPFS, but will look out for it in the future!! Wishlisted!
