Show and Tell #6 Nov - December 2013
This is our Cozy Little Corner down the hall from the Pros ;)where we just post anything we've been working on that we want to share.
Everyone has varying skills, so please don't be shy to post....even if you see someone's painting that look waaaaay too amazing.
It just takes PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. You can even see that if you look at some of the pros and what they posted when they first started in the forum.
HAPPY PAINTING, everyone! (to quote Lisa the Fesspenter )
There are also older threads: Show and Tell #1,2,3, and then by months...if you want a little giggle (and to build confidence that we all start somewhere) you can look at them (just put Show and Tell in the search box, or go to google and type in "face paint forum Show and Tell." In fact, since you are probably new to the forum if you are looking at this, doing a search in google "face paint forum" + the subject you are looking for is a much more comprehensive search.
Just so you know....These usually run about 20 pages long...just so we don't add 10,000,000 threads all over.

nikkili26 they look great!!! Great dragons and tigers. If you don't have a victim to paint, paint yourself, your arm, leg, face . That's what i do.

I got my girl again tonight!
I love her-huge luscious forehead, and always excited about a face painting!

Re: Show and Tell #6 Nov - December 2013
steal away, I got the crooked smile from lisa joy young, but I do the eyes with googly eyes (I don't use those supplies on my neice cuz she goes to bed as soon as I finish painting, but that looks way cuter!) the background water is a pearly blue powder-looks amazing in person, but the camera doesn't catch it.

Here is a butterfly I worked on tonight. I feel like I need to update my pictures and just do alittle cleaning of my pics. It has been awhile, so I've been painting away.

Pretty! I love the colors. Do you guys have tips fort painting on yourself, I swear my hands stop functioning as soon as I try.
Re: Show and Tell #6 Nov - December 2013
Thank you both!
And as for painting your self, I think it just takes practice. I would try to find a very comfy place to sit with a big mirror, make sure all your supplies are ready and paint away

I don't waste practice time painting myself, unless I am working out a new design. it is such a different set of skills, and unless you plan on making videos, or painting your whole face for every gig, I can't recommend it.
my tip is to have 2 mirrors available....preferably one mounted and one that can be adjusted.it'll help you get even lines on both sides of your face.
my other tip is to moisturize your forehead and cheeks well, because you could inadvertently deepen any wrinkles over a very short period of time.

Winkles!! Ack! I hadn't thought of that. My husband says I should put my own face on my business card so that's why I wanted to know.
Re: Show and Tell #6 Nov - December 2013
Good morning all! I finally have time today to share my first real event (it was small but I'm still calling it an event ) I paid $30 for a vendor booth at a local private catholic school to market my new business and possibly also sell my hand made holiday wreaths.
I didn't sell a single wreath but sold a lot of face paint! (To me $95 was unexpected as I was seeing it as a marketing opportunity). I had prices up but told them to pay me what they could afford so I could continuously demo my skill. This worked really good for me because they knew what I originally expected to be paid for it and most paid that price if not more, while I was also able to allow some children to get painted that otherwise couldn't afford it (it was the only kid friendly thing at the bazaar).
Many of the other booths came over to take pictures and said that I was doing better with business than them. I was crowded for most of the event so very happy that I was put in the back corner unseen from most of the people walking through.
The $2 mustaches were my boyfriends idea and a big hit. Some teenagers each got one, then came back later with more of their friends to get some too, topped off with unicorns and rainbows
Here's the photos I'm allowed to share
I love this one, he kept squinting so I couldn't get the mask right but I guess that comes with lots of practice
and my set up to boot
I was so nervous and for some reason my paint decided not to cooperate at all, but it still worked out As an add, here's the wreaths I was selling

Re: Show and Tell #6 Nov - December 2013
yes, by all means, put YOUR FACE on the cards....but that doesn't mean you have to paint it! you are super cute anyways, just get a nice professional portrait and put it there so people know who they are hiring.

Re: Show and Tell #6 Nov - December 2013
Thank you! They were a lot of fun <3 I really enjoy that I can make the kids so pleased and not have to be "in charge" of their behavior after majoring in art and education, this is truly the best of both worlds...
Re: Show and Tell #6 Nov - December 2013
Nikkili- you are so sweet.
Andrea- those are great! I'm so happy for you. Good job!

Okay, so I can't figure out how to post a picture on here, but I did get a website published! Does that count a show and tell? Go see and let me know what you think, and maybe even like it for me.
