I've been painting only a few weeks, but I see my skill improving. What does this need?

So I got a few one strokes in the mail yesterday and I'm playing with them. What does this mask need? It seem a little plain to me, but you can't really add extra swirls and flowers to boy designs.

The one stroke doesn't have black in it, so I had to outline in black, which I know needs improvement. I'm forever torn between "don't rush the lines" and "increase your speed"! I'm trying to find a happy medium.

You can get a one-stroke for flame that has the black already incorporated. You can jazz this up a bit by adding flicks of black running toward the points all along the contour of the mask. The eyebrow lines are crisp and the markings near the eyes look good.

You could probably tweak the cake you have...just cut out a thin strip along the dark edge and add a line of black. You don't need much black in it, just a sliver would do.

Thick to thin lines on your black outline will add interest. Otherwise your one stroke technique looks pretty good!
Don't put a lot of black on your split cake (like Coral3 says) it will overpower the other colors. I have one with the black and I still don't have the trick of how to use that black strip!

It is better to use Pearl Black, rather than regular black, to minimize the black leaching into the whole One Stroke Cake.

thats a really cool design. i like it!...i also stress over lines but i notice when i stop stressed over how "good" im doing them and just trying to enjoy face painting they turn out better...its like when you are cooking for fun it turns out delicious but when you know you have company coming and you try extra hard to make the food yummy something always goes wrong. you know what i mean?
