Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Getting excited! Packing up my kit as we speak. I won't be participating in the Zombie Crawl or any other night time activites, as I have to be back home in the evenings, but looking forward to all the day time classes and especially to meeting all of you who are going!!
Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Had a great time at LaFete! I finally met Melisa and her mom- we carpooled together and they are THE sweetest people in the world! Was able to meet Wyndy and Ashley and Lisa- all FANTASTIC artists and super- nice to boot! Ashley even went so far as to patiently sit with me and correct my swirls and teardrops which have always been horrendous- thanks, girl!!
Learned a ton with Mark Reid's beginners class- now I think I can finally do a half-way decent tribal
I wasn't able to attend on Saturday or Sunday, but I switched on the local news tonight and just who did I see dancing on my tv screen? They were all painting at the Audubon Zoo today and evidently the news crew was there and caught Laryssa, Z, Bethany and I think Susie (her back was to the camera but it looked like her) dancing around with their painted faces (and Z had on Marx Brothers glasses/mustache). This bunch is hilarious and fun!

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Hi Vi! I wanted to get to talk to you and never had the chance- they kept us busy! I wanted to tell you how much your youtube video on focal points on the face helped me... I wondered why my masks never quite looked right and your video showed me why!
Re: LaFete in New Orleans

I love it, Vi. It looks like the monkies from Tarzan Disney movie... Now I have "trashin the camp" in my head! What's that monkey's name? Tek? Now I have to look it up.

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Ok Lisa, was reading your intitial reply regarding LaFete and the list of people who attend. How on earth have you forgotten me again. I AM one of the originals, attended every year, and even arrive at least a day early each of the past 2 or 3 years in order to help prepare the food!!!! HMMMMM....I feel unloved!

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Well, that's because you weren't on this list at the time, and I was naming people that I thought list members would know. We have to keep the best kept secrets to ourselves, right??? YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU!!!!
Re: LaFete in New Orleans
She's the very same (and isn't she lovable?)
I didn't know Jan was on this list.
Good to see you here Jan.

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Savin up my monies... anyone know when they are going to post the dates for next year? The hubs needs to request the time off as early as he can.
Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Thanks Linda! Nice recovery Lisa...haha. Apparently I joined this list in April 09....I did not remember I was a member either...haha. I love you guys too and miss you both. Linda, I was great seeing you and the girls at FABAIC. I did not socialize too much there because I was worn out by my health ordeal and went up to bed by 11 each night. Linda and Lisa, let me know if you are going to be in TX in the near future...would love a house guest.

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
I would love a road trip, but my truck sucks gas and drinks oil for breakfast.
We will just have to work something out.

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
I plan on coming to the Fete this year too! Keep me posted.
Jen, wanna room together? or is your hubster coming with you?
Jan, I hope you are feeling better these days. You were not quite yourself at FABAIC. Take care of yourself!
Lisa, I have a van that must be your truck's sister! HA!~

modernmagik wrote:Yes, you could bring your daughter for the FP classes, you'd just need to buy another full participant ticket for her.
The body painting usually doesn't start until after dinner each night. so you could stay each day through dinner then head out and return in the AM.
We are debating bringing our children this year (they will be 14, and 13 by then).....we would just have to get a second room (which is the most expensive part of the event) to fit us all, unless they have a suite.....and that could get pricey.
The Staybridge in NOLA have 2 bedroom suites at very reasonable prices, we have friends that always use them during Mardi Gras.

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Is anyone planning to attend the 2013 LA Fete? I think I'd rather go to this one than FABAIC. It would be more cost effective for me, and closer to home.

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
I went to the 2012 LaFete.
Won't be able to attend the 2013, as our son will be graduating from Basic Training around that same time.
If you have questions about it, just ask me.

Re: LaFete in New Orleans
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind! Hopefully, I'll have the money for three registrations by then!
