Going to LaFete?

I know everyone is all excited about going to the FAB, but are any of you going to LaFete in New Orleans next month? I won't be able to do every day but plan to attend at least half of it. I even got my spot in Mark Reid's class set up .
I'd love to hear from any of you southern painters who will be there. We can do a get together and perhaps a jam. Hope to hear from you.

I'm going! I'm signed up for Mark and Pashur's classes, but will be leaving on Saturday so I'll miss Wiser. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone.

I'm going Friday for Pashur's class but that's the only day I can afford to go. I live about 40 minutes away so I'm not staying at the hotel.

man - still trying to gather the money for the hotel and such.... i dunno... looks like it's gonna be a close call.

I'll see you all there. I couldn't pass up spending my birthday in New Orleans!! My buddy is still waffling back and forth on if he's comming or not. So who knows if I'll be on my own. If I am, you're welcome to share my room Vi. I promise I only grind my teeth a little!

LaFete sounds like so much fun!!!

Wish I could go but i'm not ready to leave my kids for that long yet and it's not driving distance for me....

Awe thanks yall.... it's actually a bit more complicated since I will have Eric with me.... he has a thing about sharing a room. He stores REALLY loud... amoungst other things...lol...

I'll check again, but more than likely we'll end up in our own room.

It just adds up so fast with parking and all.

For reals though... hotels are such a waste of money. I don't care how soft the bed is, what the pictures on the walls look like, or if there's a coffee maker in the room. Think of all the PAINTS we could buy with that much money! I'd be in the van by the river too, if it had a working toilet. LOL.

I'll be driving through Mobile.

My parents live in Mobile, I'm on tight budget and would prefer not to rent a vehicle so if anyone is commuting daily........

You're going to drive back every night!? Yikes! It takes me about four hours to get to New Orleans (I'm in Pensacola, 45 min east of Mobile.) That's some drive you're looking at!

I think my parents are farther West in Mobile. Still going to be a 2 hour drive for me though. Throw in a few Hurricanes, and this may not be a well thought out idea on my part! I'll probably end up begging for someone to let me sober up on their floor. I'm going to do more pricing this weekend to see how I'm going to make this happen. I love the smaller more intimate environment.

If anyone from out of town needs advice on where to eat or what to see if your doing some sightseeing, let me know cuz I am the "local guy". I grew up just an hour out of NO and went to school there for years, etc. Just let me know if you have questions. I am going to check the location on the map and see what's in walking distance.
My problem is that I have some work that will pull me away Friday night...stinks, I know, but hopefully I can make most of the fun. I can't wait for the Mark Reid class.
