Relay for life event? Ahhh!
So as a newbie here, I need to rant my nervousness and ask for a little help
Before I moved I went to my church's youth group, and one of the young women who helped there (and is also one of the church's Relay for Life team leaders) messaged me on Facebook saying that she saw my face painting pictures and asked if I would be willing to face paint at the Relay for Life (I'm assuming everybody here knows what that is, let me know if I'm wrong ) at the end of the month. She wanted to me to face paint for $1 and have the money go to the relay but I told her that wouldn't work out because supplies isn't free after all
We ended up agreeing at $5 per face and splitting the profits 50/50 (although the full face designs are going to be a bit more), and we were both happy with that compromise. Honestly, since it's for the Relay for Life and my mother is a cancer survivor, I would let all the profits go to the relay if supplies didn't cost so much...but maybe that's just the overly-nice in me talking haha
But anyways....there are always large sums of people there (I'd say in the hundreds) and I'm kind of scared of getting swamped with a bunch of kids wanting to be painted at the same time. I'm used to doing birthday parties for a couple of hours with a certain amount of kids, not an all day event with who-knows-how-many-kids.
Anyone have large-event tips?
Is it really nerve-racking, or am I stressing for nothing?

Oh! Oh!
I have done the relay for life before (in my smal 50K city). I think the rate you have agreed on is good. When I did the relay, I did it as a volunteer thing and they just covered supply costs.
It was alright apart from the fact that the earth rotates I was constantly shifting my seat and my client's so they would not be on shadow. So I suggest getting a very good spot, not just some random free space on the grass.
Well if the kids want to be painted all at once TOO BAD! Just tell em to wait.
I'm not sure how long you're booked but I think I did it for three or four hours. I would totally not do it all day just because it's too hard to keep focus. Just set up and pack up before the mosquitoes come out in force

1.Few nice and quick designs
2.Line manager (to collect the money and keep kids organize)
3. When you start your last hour give a number to the people in line, and close the line (usually I can paint all the kids that are in line at that time)

Thanks girls.
I'm mostly stressed because I don't have a canopy tent yet (the one I want is $250 and I currently do NOT have the money for that!). The church has many that they use for churchy events, so I'm going to ask if they can let me borrow one since I'm doing this for their relay team anyways
And thanks for the idea of line manager! I already asked my momma if she'd be willing to do it and she's all for it haha
I'll have to discuss how long I'm going to be there with her, because there is a (Glen Danzig <3) concert I want to go to later that night

Re: Relay for life event? Ahhh!
I had someone e-mail me recently about volunteering to do a Rely event. Ummmm, no. Not that I'm against helping out, but I can't afford to use up all my supplies on a volunteer gig.
