Holy guacamole
Due to family crises and not knowing that many people in my new school, I have no place I can legitimately show this and just... Share the burden, I guess?
I mean, I'm like another Ripley clone! Check out those teeth!!!!
I don't know if I should laugh because it's so over the top, or cry because it makes me feel ugly.
And tbh, I'd really appreciate it if nobody called me ugly. My lips deserve an award for hiding all that, so well, every day.
:sigh:

Re: Holy guacamole
Wow! That's pretty severe. Will you be having it corrected, or keeping your smile unique?
I would like to believe that nobody on this forum would call you ugly. We all have at least one feature we don't like. Mine makes a good cushion for sitting.
I call it my "back porch". Haha!

Re: Holy guacamole
I'm having it corrected, yes. I'm slowly grinding away my jaw joints, and get regular inflammations because my lower teeth bite down on erh... Soft palate? The roof of my mouth?
It's just really shocking/scary to see it like that. I can't stop staring!

Re: Holy guacamole
Hun, everyone has something that they are not happy with! Mine happens to be my teeth as well, I have had 3 kids but I lost a baby in my 6th month and I was pretty sick throughout the entire pregnancy. The enamel was stripped from my bottom teeth and now they need to be replaced... I plan on having implants done very soon. It is just hard to set a date to make myself tooth less! I think if it bothers you like it seems it does then you should get them fixed. I have never had anyone (including my husband) even notice and it's probably the same in your case. We are our toughest critics! BTW you are a beautiful young lady...
Re: Holy guacamole
Oh Erica, I'm so sorry you had to go through that! Thank you for your kind words...

Re: Holy guacamole
Yea it was tough, hardest thing I have ever dealt with actually. I wouldn't have my son if it haden't happened though. I got pregnant with him a month later. The Dr. said that was the best thing to help with the depression. He was very wrong at first, it only made me more depressed but about 3mths into my pregnancy I somehow recovered from the loss of the baby before. His name was going to be Nathan James so I ended up naming my son (now 4) Jathan. He is my rainbow after a very dark cloudy time in my life. I just want to get my teeth corrected so that I will smile more freely. Hope it makes you smile more to! I know how it feels to hide your smile...

Diane, I\'d bet that my back porch and your back porch are pretty much built by the same contractor. But the real back porch at my house growing up was welcoming and cozy and where everyone wanted to hang out. (Not that we want people sitting on our butts enjoying their mint juleps...)
Shiranshoku - take care of what you need to to feel your best and be the best you can be - and we are all beautiful.
Re: Holy guacamole
I think you're beautiful. And I think that societal stereotypes of only "one form of acceptably beautiful" can be flushed down the toilet at the next available opportunity.
If the teeth are causing you problems, then yes - get them fixed. But I think you're really, really pretty. I'd be SO happy to look the way you do.
As someone who was beaten in the past for being "too ugly to live"....if anyone calls you ugly, then that's more a reflection of their soul than your face.

Re: Holy guacamole
In Japan they are spending money to make their teeth imperfect because that is what they see as beauty.... http://japandailypress.com/trend-sees-japanese-girls-paying-money-for-crooked-teeth-0422570
Re: Holy guacamole
For me, being able to smile freely without feeling self conscious is the ultimate goal. I probably wouldn't go through with it if it didn't cause me pain, but I'm superficial enough... The way they look really bothers me, especially in profile. I can hide it pretty well from a frontal view, but as the x-ray shows it's pretty hard to hide from the side.
I'm so happy for you that you have your son, Erica!
Thank you, Miss Ronnie. I'll try to keep those wise words in mind
Kammy, I wish you'd never had to go through that. I've been through similar situations and while inside you know it's never your fault, I know it can damage you thoroughly. I don't know you that well, but from what I've seen here you are a strong, intelligent woman that is beautiful both on the inside and the outside.
This is turning out quite cathartic... Thanks everyone.

Re: Holy guacamole
Shiranshoku, I lost 3 teeth due to poor choices I made in my past, and I am self contious about my smile. I have now started the path to reconstructive/dental implants. I waited so long, its so expencive, Im just doing 2 teeth. But Im so excited to finally do it, Ill get thru the pain(Erica, you too). If it bothers you, I encourage you to set a timegoal, and do this for yourself, so that you can smile freely! I absolutely empathise with you, as we are seeing, many of us go thru things that leave us feeling less than, i love the strength we can gather from sharing with each other, thank you Shiranshoku, for starting this thread and sharing your story
Re: Holy guacamole
I spent Saturday at the dentist's office getting my 2 busted teeth pulled. They swore at the infections showing up in my x-ray, even had multiple dentist come in to marvel at it. Then during the hour and a half it took them to pull one of the teeth, every time I opened my eyes I saw another dentist leaning in to watch/check out my mouth. I am not sure what was so exciting in there and I don't think I want to know. They had to go down into the bone to get one of the teeth out. I am so thankful to have them out though. Even the recovery is better than the pain I have put up with for the last few years. As much as I have come to hate my smile, I can't seem to stop the last couple days, I hadn't realized how much relief I was going to get when I got them done. I knew they hurt but had lost sight of how much. I still have a long ways to go to get my teeth "fixed" but I think I have made it through the worst step.
Good luck on your teeth. It really makes a difference when you can smile without pain and enjoy it.
