does anyone have a favorite? I am eyeing the Sephora ones and thought I'd ask here just in case anyone had used them?

Re: glitter eyeliner?
I tried Eye Kandy, it was ok but it does flake off after a few hours. I also thought it was a pain to put on, so anyways, not recommending it, but it is an option.
I saw a teacher at Fabbulas, Karen Sawyer, had the most beautiful glitter lined eyes and it appeared to stay on perfectly all day! I THINK she may have used Liquid Bling, but I don't know. Karen: if you are out there, you were an awesome instructor last weekend! And what did you use on your own eyes???

Re: glitter eyeliner?
I asked her...it wasn't liquid bling. Too bad I can't remember what it WAS though! It was beautiful... I like Liquid Bling though and I'm sure you can get the same look using that.
Re: glitter eyeliner?
I think she said it was adhesive with the glitter poofed onto it. I think I have her email address somewhere and will confirm.

Re: glitter eyeliner?
Ok so I have a suggestion... a cheap one. Sally Beauty sells cosmetic glitter for 99 cents but they also have a mixing medium also for 99 cents that is like a gel and can be mixed in a tiny batch on the back of your hand and be applied with an orangewood stick (the kind for pushing back cuticles, not the ones that look like skewers) Here is the link:
http://www.sallybeauty.com/facial-Glitter/SBS-388609,default,pd.html
Also Avon has one that comes in gold or silver that is reasonably priced. Here is the link:

Re: glitter eyeliner?
As a professional make-up artist... I DO NOT RECOMMEND mixing anything on "the back of your hand" that you intend to apply to another person!
On yourself - do whatever you want, but, if applying to another person NO, NON, NADDA!!
Union rules (IATSE) state that you CANNOT touch the talent with anything other than a sterile tool or single use applicator (after removing the product to clean palette with a clean tool!)
When I see those "experts" on TV doing the make-overs who "mix" on the back of their hands I gag... obviously these are "self-taught" artists as most who have been formally trained would NEVER do this!
Sorry - it is one of my pet peeves !!

The question was for glitter eye liner, it was a suggestion for her own personal use. Can you really put glitter eyeliner on a kid?

Re: glitter eyeliner?
The liquid bling is going to be too wet and will stay wet for a long time. I make my own bling with hair gel and it dries much quicker and harder. I do not reccommend using that on the eyes. For that I would go with Avon's variety or make your own with the Sally Beauty gelsince it is made for the eye

Re: glitter eyeliner?
I picked up a green glitter eye-liner (for my own use) at the local drug store. It is called "Glitterama" and is by Annabelle.
I just read the colour name it's "Krytonite"... which is a lime green metallic.
My idea was to wear it with my face painting on my Christmas jobs, but, it was underwhelming... very gooey, doesn't apply smoothly... had to go over and over to get a decent continuous line and then, the glitter didn't glitter very much!
And there is no way to use it to apply on others (similar to the Detailz bottle/applicator) hygienically.

Re: glitter eyeliner?
In order to use the glitter eyeliner (or Detailz for that matter) IF you were going to use a CLEAN applicator each time you inserted it into the bottle you COULD do it... but, 1) the applicator needs to fit into the container 2) you need multiple applicators...
Or, you could cut open the container and dump it into a pot... that would make it easier to use.
Generally, when I am doing make-up I GIVE the client the mascara to keep after I've applied it. I find it annoying and fussy to remove the wand, scrape off the mascara onto my palette knife, load another applicator... I just use a new mascara and hand it to them when I'm done.
I don't bother with Detailz or anything in that sort of container when face painting... too fussy and expensive.
And, yes, Liquid Bling does take awhile to dry! About 20 minutes I've found when I apply to myself.

Re: glitter eyeliner?
agreed....glitter gels are best as painting embellishments not actual eyeliner. they are heavy, slow to dry, and a bit difficult to apply precisely.
best to buy a specifically designed eye liner or eye product --- the glamour eyes or liquid eye makeup sealant from other professional brands can be simply sueezed by the drop or poured out and mixed with your glitter or mica in a small disposable cup or pallette well and then just toss out - clean and easy - as long as you used a sanitized or disposable brush/applicator.
The last two MAC makeovers I got - I got eye infections - at the department store (Nordstrom's) and MAC is known for hiring professionally trained makeup artists!! I just don't believe everyone WASHES their brushes after each client or each day. I LOVE the idea of just giving the mascara to the client- buying 100 wands and using the same tube of mascara for six months doesn't seem right either.

Re: glitter eyeliner?
Thanks so much for the tips Shannon! You are the go to gal!
the brushes I am talking about are like this
http://spamdi.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1527
the eyeliner I am eyeing is $15 a tube. I Wonder how many applications that is...but I bet I can find something cheaper if I look around (I didn't even know glitter eyeliner existed until last week!)

Re: glitter eyeliner?
I've got disposable mascara wands - pick them up cheap when I see them. And some "disposable" lip stick brushes (they are retractable too!) that I got very cheap - they are able to be sanitized and reused.
IF you really REALLY wanted to create a very glittery eyeliner on the top I would say use eyelash adhesive and a very fine glitter that you would apply over the dry adhesive with a soft brush, then dust off the loose stuff.

Re: glitter eyeliner?
I have had mixed results with liquid eye liners. I LOVE them, and cheap ones can be better than the pricey ones. I love to use them as a liner on the eye, or an accent to a design. For instance, when I do a cheeta design, they are great for just a touch of glitter, not the actual LINE or DOT that Glitter Bling does. I like the brand at http://www.kkcenterhk.com See their search in the upper right, and type in "glitter eyeliner"
Originally I bought all the colors. But, I find almost any color of it will add a nice glitter touch and not really show the color. So, now I just carry one.
Remember if you use it, you need to sanitize it as well. I use a fresh anitbacterial wipe for each customer, so I just wipe it across the wipe after I use it. Or, I grab my sanitizing spray and give it a spritz.

That is a great idea. But ...
How expensive are they?
Will they fit into a tiny eye liner bottle?

Re: glitter eyeliner?
I mix Kryolan Eyeliner Sealer and the glitter in a small palette then apply.
Perfect glitter eyeliner. Easy. Just mix as your need.
And sure you can use on children just be smart - be sure it is glitter for use around the eye - heck has to be safer than those poof bottles blowing glitter all over. But I'm a speed painter who has time for glitter eyeliner on 6 yr olds!
It is a great way to set you adult face art apart from the kiddies.
