Safe glitter display case and other glitter tattoo supply tips
So I've tried many different set ups for my glitter tattoo glitter and finally have one that works and also looks professional. I bought the case at a drug store after Christmas last year for 50% off. I took out the cheap makeup that came with it and put in a foam 'gem display' tray that I bought on ebay and cut to fit. It comes with the round plastic cases and lids that fit securely without being difficult to take off. The round cases have foam inserts for holding gems which I discard so I can put in the glitter.
I like it because the glitter stays secure in the foam tray. I take out one or two at a time as I use them and then return them so they don't fly about. I've lost too much glitter in the past from getting knocked over. The containers are small enough that it's not a tragedy if I do though. For Canada Day I have at least two containers of red, and at Christmas I have a couple of both red and green so I have enough for the job.
Here it is closed
The drawer at the bottom holds my 'fluffy' brush, black Mica powder and adhesives.
I put my tweezers and brushes on the top tray. I like the cheap soft brushes for glitter tattoos. My favourite tweezers are the really pointy silver ones here in the middle. They work great for removing 'island' pieces when a stencil doesn't come off in one piece. I lined the brush tray with a piece of the sticky tape from a lint roller, laid sticky side down. Makes it easier to keep clean and it fit perfectly.
I use 70% alcohol for cleaning the skin surface before applying a tattoo, and 99% alcohol for cleaning my brushes. This little container is awesome for soaking a goopy brush without crushing the bristles as it holds it in place at the top. It has a grid at the bottom to brush off the glitter and glue too.

That cup looks awesome, where'd you get it?
I love how sleek the glitters look on the black and that box looks awesome too!

I love your set up. Looks great!
have found that the edge of a business card prevents "client cringe" when I take off the bits and pieces of stencils...(and then I also remember to hand them the "care card" printed on the back)...I just kept getting flinchers when I tried using other suggested methods.

I got the cup at a convention near Seattle, but I think it's found on Amerikan bodyart. I bet Metina would get them in though if there's a call for them.
Good tip with the business card Anniel.

Sorry, can you tell me what is client cringe from stencils? Is this painful pulling on skin as sticky stencil is removed?
Do you use tweezers to remove little bits?
I am not familiar with this.

Yes, some stencils don't come off in one piece. You may have little 'island' pieces left behind. I like the pointy tweezers because they can get the tiny bits easiest. Some clients might not like seeing tweezers coming at them
I'll be trying the credit card technique now too.

I really love that set up it looks nice and sleek. But I have to ask, do you find that with so many color options clients take a long time making decision? I only have 8 colors of glitter and get by, but it looks so tempting to expand my glitter!
oh and thanks for the business card tip! I'm always so scared to poke the little ones!

I don't let them 'choose' so much as let them tell me their favourite colours and then I 'show' them the two or three colours I'll use. The part I don't like is when they choose too many colours that I know won't look good with the design. I often have to say two is the maximum colours for that design or guide them into options I know will work. Ultimately though customer is always right, eh?
I like lots of options myself although I probably only use 10 of the colours I have LOL

hehehe! glitter colors are hard to choose! i let my clients pick two colors any more than that it becomes $1 a color. Many are happy with the two colors and those who really insist on more than two pay for it... we also have a rainbow one which is a touch of every color we have and that has become our most popular choice for those who can't pick

Hi. Do you know what brand it was (the case)? I have been searching for the right case and was going to use a caboodles. Right now, I only have 12 colors, (the YBody morning glory and golden something). I love them. Still not decided if I am going to keep them attached or separated. But I love the display and the place for the brushes.

So that is what the little black ring on that cup is for! I love the little groovies in the bottom, but I never could figure out the other bit. Mystery solved. Thanks Magna!

Looks quite efficient and pro. Nice job.
Re: Safe glitter display case and other glitter tattoo supply tips
Client cringe happened when I came at them with tweezers or a pointy thing to lift the bits and pieces of the stencil. Using a business card is easier for me to work quickly as well.
Re: Safe glitter display case and other glitter tattoo supply tips
Sorry, no name on the case 'Art on You'...it was one of those kits of cheap makeup at the drug store. They usually come out around Christmas time.
Glad I could solve a mystery 'Geekophile'
