Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
Tappy, can you believe I gave away an easel just before I started face painting? Here's a pic of my usual setup using my brown canopy. The rack holding my pics on the left is just a shelf from Home Depot w/foam core boards. After the pics were destroyed in a T-storm, I now laminate them & use tacky clay to stick onto my boards. It's easy to change pics that way.
Here's a 4th of July event w/my new white tent. When the rain started, I added the sides. LOVE this tent. My "rack" of pics is barely visible on the left. Notice the sign @ the top? It's a sleeve that came w/the tent. (Costco)

I'm locked out of my account again. For the same reasons as before; I tried to create a business page and inadvertently connected my business email to my account. Lady Sinaz helped me before and I'm waiting for her to help again, if she can... she was able to allow me access, but only from my desktop - and my desktop is down and may be down for good. Gotta take my desktop to the computer hospital but money is too tight right now (when ISN'T it?!!!)
Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
Pat - I think I have the same tent with the sleeve on the front. I haven't used the sleeve yet because I can't decide on what material to use...paper? banner? laminate? What are your pics in the sleeve made out of?
Do you take your pictures out before you collapse the tent or leave them in there? I don't see how you could leave them in because it would get crunched! But I am lazy and want to find a way to leave something in there So hoping you found something that works!

Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
Shadowdrawing, I cut white foam core board from Michael's or the dollar store, in sections, slightly smaller than the sleeve, so I can slide it in & out easily.
Here's a pic of a section on top of the full size before cutting. BTW, the uncut size is what I use for my 2 picture boards.
All my pictures are printed on 4x6 photo paper & then laminated. (impervious to rain!)
I blew up my logo onto photo paper as big as I could & laminated the pieces to make my sign.
Did the same w/the pics. & glued them all onto 3 pieces of the foamcore. Here it is all together.
After each gig, I unlatch the sign from the tent & fold it up w/foamcore still in it. This is how I transport it & store it. This works SO well, it even survived a thunderstorm, since it's all waterproof!
Using a white backdrop really made it pop. So far, I've put different pics on both sides & flipped them over, depending on a theme. (Under the Sea...Superheroes). If I'm painting for one of the companies that doesn't want me to use my name...I have a sign to slip in that says "Face Painter" using my Font & Color. I've even brought the sign to use @ large inside events & attached it to the front of my table. Right now, I'm making new boards for Halloween themed events. Can you tell I love this thing? Just curious...where did you get your white tent? Mine came with the sign, all 4 sides that velcro &/or zip (good for windy days to NOT zip) & a rolling storage bag @ Costco for $200.00. If anyone see's these & is thinking about it, don't wait. They were all gone in 4 days!

Love that sleeve, Pat!
Martha - how does that pvc frame on top hold up against windy days?

Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
We switched to pipe, much better. The signs are huge, 10 by4 so being strong was important.
Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
I enjoyed seeing all of your tents! I've only done birthday parties but hope to soon be able to do a festival so I may have my own tent someday...how exciting!

Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
I'm always changing my outdoor setup. I can't wait until it's the way I love it. Since I change my designs often I have a hard time investing in a permanent sign. I'd love to have all my designs for tats up on big signs. I'm using a book right now.
What paint do you use for your PVC banner holders? I have one, but it's still white with the digitized wording all on the sides :/

Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
Pat - I bought mine at BJs...same thing - all the sides, banner, awning, carrying bag - $200. We then bought the tent weight bags by EZUP and filled them with sand. Those things are so heavy. I hate them! My husband slides a hammer through the handle to make them easier to carry.
Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups

Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
Brenda, looks good.
Shadowdancing. Thanks for the comment on the wgts. I bought a box of wgts @ Home Depot...4 wgts/5 lbs each in a box. About $30. They were recommended by a traveling zoo I FP for sometimes. They said that's all they use & never had a prob. Sometimes, I work near the ocean, which is WINDY. I'm prob. going to buy another set of wgts to keep in the car, if needed. You just slip one around each of the tent legs. They're flat, so you can place one on top of another.

Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
This is a great thread! I don't do a lot of outdoor set ups, but the nearest thing I have is this indoor set up that I use for 2 days at our convention center during mardi gras. don't know if it helps anyone here, but thought I would take a stab at contributing since I got a couple of awesome ideas here!!

Re: Show your Tent / Outdoor Event setups
It looks like your pictures are in some sort of boxes? I'm assuming there is a top to the tents? Are they pop-ups or the pole kind?
