HI, I am a wife and mother of 4 children 17,13,10, and 8. I am an owner and operator of Tina's Sugar Shack, and make custom designed cakes and cookies. I hate to bake, but love to decorate and have recently discovered that a person's face is like a freshly iced cake ready to be decorated lol. I love the decorating aspect and have painted cakes quite a bit, so I am hoping to move away from so many cakes and onto face painting (since it doesn't require as much prep or cleanup and the profit margin is bigger in many cases). My husband is an associate pastor of our church and the bread winner of our family, working full time as a computer programmer/installer of touch screen registers for restaurants/hotels. He has recently started frequenting festivals selling sandy candy and we want to join forces with face painting under the same tent with the candy, and call it "Kids corner" or something like that...and hopefully I can stop caking and he can quit his day job and go into ministry full time! Ok, now that you know my life story....I first painted faces last year for a block party at our church (my husband said, I have seen you paint cakes so I'm sure you can paint faces), my husband purchased a wheel of paints from snazaroo and I fell in love with it...I painted at a harvest festival later that year and in two weeks I will be painting at a festival in a booth with my husband. This will be my first time charging for my work and I'm SOOOO nervous that nobody will want to pay! lol I really am looking forward to it though, so much so, that I am on this forum instead of decorating the 8 cakes I have due tomorrow for a wedding!! Shocked bad!! Anyhow, glad to have stumbled on this forum....tons of good info!

Khalstead--

candy and facepainting---oh you are dangerous! What a smart idea!

I had someone ask me "since you paint faces can you decorate a cake?" I LOL--my cakes decorating belongs on cake wrecks!!

anyway---we are so glad that you are here and hope that your goals work!

That is awesome that your husband is so supportive of you! Maybe you could get in touch with some of the restraunts your husband has worked with and talk to them about doing a friday or saturday night gig there.

Hope your cakes got finished and that you aren't totally wasting all your free time on this forum (like I do!)

We do have a newbie challenge going on right now--no prizes or anything, but wiht your background you might be "better" then us other newbies!!
