Hi from Indiana/Ohio Newbie Painter
Hey all,
Thought I might as well join the site because I keep coming back for reference. Just started in the biz, no real action yet. Need an income and have been an artist all my life, hope the investment: paints, brushes, insurance, booth fees pay off. Fair booths are quite expensive. Got a week to start practicin and get insurance in line and make signs. It is very exciting, and yet scarey but, gotta just throw myself into it.
Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Hi IndianaFP
Welcome ... I hope you find this branch of artistry works for you and that you invest your skills and talent and then share them with others.
I can't help hinking that one week isn't long to get started and get out there and apply stuff to people's faces. So I wish you well and hope that it is a success.

Yes I know. Actually 1 1/2 weeks (not this weekend) Have to get insurance in order.
This is my first 2 faces....
Butterfly 10 minutes, flowers 3. Butterfly is a little thick on black too many lines and flowers too heavy on the sponge & inner cheeks.
I know it seems too quick, but I will get this. I've painted since I was 15. 25 years ago, so, I can and will do this. My sister just donated 5 beautician heads for practice and I'm giving 3 hours every mornin.

Re: Hi from Indiana/Ohio Newbie Painter
My suggestion would be that it takes more than a week and a 1/2 to learn about this profession. Most Professional face painters attend workshops and conventions. Why? So that they know what they are doing before they go out and work. There are MANY different types of products out there, everyone one of them work a little different and take practice to learn how to use them. Most of those in this industry who are very good at what they do, were also artists before hand, but it still takes time to learn how to work with different tools. You can practice all you want on a practice head, it is still not the same as a moving canvas!Festival work is VERY long and hard work, good luck
