Newbie in N.E. Ohio

Hi everyone, I'm just getting into face painting. I had bought much of the supplies several years back, but never did much beyond a couple church events. Then my husband signed me up to do face painting at a fund raiser this Saturday, so I've been scurrying to brush up and learn new stuff. Now that I have discovered all the great Youtube tutorials and websites like this one, I think I'm hooked for good!

Thanks everyone! The fund raiser went pretty well. I had a line the entire time, even though there were two other face painters. I was very glad to have the "competition" though, because I never could have kept up. They had the supplies and skills to do little designs, while I was more geared toward the full-face/mask type, so it worked out well. I got to do lots of things I'd never even had a chance to practice, but they went pretty well. I didn't use a display board, so no one had anything to compare to, so that was helpful. My biggest challenge was the little girl who wanted a hawk flying above her eye with a fish in it's mouth!!! I think it turned out ok.

Oh my goodness, SoaringEagle - talk about a baptism of fire! So, so glad it went well. The fact that you could pick up your paints and do an event after several years' hiatus is a huge credit to you. Hope you're suitably proud of yourself!

I'm a total newbie in Scotland, and I have to admit I'm in awe of the people on this forum. I think I'll just sit in the background and try to learn as much as I can.

Soaring Eagle---are you going to continue with your painting? A hawk with a fish? I would have told her to choose another face! We have a NEWBIE challenge going on if you would like to join that thread. Welcom and can't wait to see some pictures if you have any.

amylady - I think I'm too scared! I've literally only painted about half a dozen times in the week or so since I began. Newbie is a bit of an understatement for me, and I'm a bit lacking in the confidence stakes because of that, never mind currently being bedbound...

Maybe when I've got a couple of weeks' more experience under my belt and actually have something worth showing? I might pop over there and have a peek for inspiration's sake, though. I'm in awe of all the talent on this forum.
