Zombie's Blood Empty Zombie's Blood

Post by xtra12 Thu Aug 16, 2012 4:58 pm

I love painting Zombies and my husband and I are loving the whole liquid latex effects for skin and alike but I am wondering about the blood. Does anyone have any opinions about ways to create zombie blood. I normally use red paint. I have seen some great zombies out there and I love the look of stage blood but it is expensive. So any thoughts, suggestions or ideas would be really appreciated.

Really stage blood is not all that expensive most especially when compared with cooking up your own. And the look is sooo much better than paint. I my FX basics class I cover a lot of information about blood products. I can tell you about lots of the products but since you want a inexpensive I suggest Kryolan's Fresh Scratch.

It is a good balance between a wet and dry blood. It is perfect for face painters as it is quick and easy to use and remove. It comes in light fro a new blood wound look or the most popular dark for that deep old blood look. In two sizes small will be less than $5 large about $9. And it last a long time with great shelf life.

In my Gallery there is a pic with this product it is on Tim's head, cheek an some by his mouth. The blood from his mouth was Kryolan's Blood Capsules.

If you want to try your hand at it, here is a page with a bunch of "recipes"
http://www.sickindividual.com/tipblood.html
and this page has some "flavored" blood recipes.

Last year I made my own blood with light Karo syrup and some gel food coloring. I didn't use a lot of it, and it didn't stain, but I imagine it might if there was a large quantity used.

I'll have to test that theory though. We will have to call it a science experiment. Ah, the joys of home schooling...

Betcha Shannon could weigh in on this one. She does some nice gore. Gotta love a woman who makes cornflake scabs.
