yay! another brand seems to be ok...
As many of you know, I had a terrible reaction to being painted with Wolfe/DFX at one point and since then, I've been afraid to try anything even similar to them (once bitten, twice shy). I certainly didn't want to go spend a fortune on paints just to find that I couldn't use any of them and we all know these things aren't cheap.
I've pretty much mastered the use of Snazaroo, so even now I'm not going to change out my whole kit or even most of it since I love how much easier it is to wash off of the kids after. But Glitterfly gave me a couple of TAG cakes to try and I wore some of the gelato split cake on the inside of my forearm for 8 hours before washing it off and I didn't have a reaction to it! Yay!! I may just use it for the splits and maybe a few of the neon colours that I can't get with Snaz, but it's nice to know that there is SOMETHING else that I can use without getting a rash (or that smells awful).

Dear Perry:
I am very sensitive to makeup, perfume, and some face paints. That is a strange sensitivity for a former MUA and now, a face painter.
I am very frightened to try new products.
I am just now embracing TAG!!!
I tried out some face paints on my neck a few years ago...and got a reaction. Small blisters popped up, and when it was healing, there was the added bonus off looking like I had a HICKEY on my neck for almost two weeks.
I feel the products are getting more conscientious about safer face paints.
I just received some silver FAB that has NO aroma at all!! FAB has the best silver I have ever used. When I lay down a gray base, and then sponge the silver over the gray, the silver appears pretty seamless and opaque. The gray was not even applied that well. Gray seems to work as a great primer for silver.
Oh, poop, I just hijacked your happy thread regarding TAG. I am going to be quiet now.
xoxo

Such great news Erin!!! I love TAG! You should totally get the Pearl Havana Sunset...prettiest TAG cake I own.
Re: yay! another brand seems to be ok...
Yay! That's so awesome to hear Perry! I love the smell of paradise paints. Never had a complaint... just sayin. I think ya'll are weird.
Re: yay! another brand seems to be ok...
That is awesome:) Happy for you. My kit contains a lot of tag..I love it!
Re: yay! another brand seems to be ok...
Too funny, Miss Ronnie! I'm a FAB lover, too! Better be careful, people might think that this is a different type of discussion board. LOL
Re: yay! another brand seems to be ok...
Just for the record, I like tag paints too. But I'm not really married to any brands (except Wolfe for linework)

Kat-
I cheated on my wolfe black with tag pearl black -
Erin -
Before you buy TAG neons make sure that you are ok with using them too. My understanding (and Shannon can correct me if I'm wrong) is that neon pigments differ from pearls which differ from the 'regular' and all of them have varying concentrations of fragrance. But if you can use TAG, you can get a ready-made rainbow cake instead of hand making a snaz one!

I am not married to any brand, either. I can't say this enough, though; There are some absolutely gorgeous shimmers paints from FAB...
And TAG pearl black makes me say this: Once you go pearl black, you'll never go back....SNAP! Did I really just write that?....

LOL
I have to say I still am really liking that TAG Pearl Black. I think it looks nice and solid to the naked eye but in photos it comes off a bit grey from the shimmer reflecting the light. But perfect for butterfly outlining and swirls on the little girls. I've given it its own hole in my pro-54 palette, one of the big ones.

hmmm... I guess you convinced me ladies!! I have told myself I wasn't going to spend anymore money on paints because I have a TON... but I want to try pearl black now!!
Re: yay! another brand seems to be ok...
*Sigh* Me too . I need a big PPF day to justify more paint. But I'll be throwing a TAG Pearl Black in my next order to try it out. If Shannon recommends something...it's probably worth trying out...she's like the Anna Wintour of Face Paint products.
Re: yay! another brand seems to be ok...
just dropped about $70 in the FPF shop! Gah. I always feel like I have to justify the shipping. lol.
Re: yay! another brand seems to be ok...
Are you using the TAG pearl black for linework? Or as background?
Can one ever have too much paint? Every time I place an order I figure out that I still need several more items...UGH!
How much do I love face painting? Let me count the ways...

Re: yay! another brand seems to be ok...
Linework... it is softer, but still effective and you can't really see the pearl.
And the AFPPA (Addicted Face Paint Purchasers Anonymous) meetings will no doubt be starting up soon.
