Best brand in the heat

As things are heating up in the south, I'm wondering what everyone's experiences are with different brands and how well they hold up in the heat and applying? One person recommended Grimas, but as far as I know I haven't seen this brand readily available in the states.

Which brand do you think holds up best on the really hot days?

I don't know if there is any brand out there that can say that 100% of their colors will hold up in the heat. For the most part my DFX paint was great and then I tried to use the light blue. A total different consitency from the others. Some of my paradise held up fine, but then others were mush.

I think the best way is to keep the paints cool. One person suggested putting the frozen ice packs under the paint. Use a tent to keep it out of direct sunlight. Fun a fan if you can. Definetly something we can brainstorm about.

This is second hand, but I was told that Grimas is a small company and doesn't want to go through the FDA approval process. It is a good paint, but its stacking system is what makes it so popular. I believe that it is FDA compliant though.

It is perfectly safe as tons of painters in the UK swear by it and they have direct access to Snaz. I brought some back from the UK, but don't use it too much.

I've been using Snaz a lot because of their ease of washing off, but I may have to switch over to my DFX soon.

Fardel or FWW... they are creams or liquids and are fine in the heat.

Hi, I have spent most of the last 4 years painting in Hong Kong with high heat and 100% humidity so pretty good at spotting the better brands!

Much as I love Snaz sparkles I more or less swapped out the entire range as Snaz is the worst and went to glop even in some UK summers before we emigrated. I kept a couple and despite fridges, de-humidifiers, ice blocks etc just had to get used to trying to get it onto a sponge/ brush when it was the consistancy of a sticky choc mousse.

Paradise was better, up to a point, then the greens and blues went sort of chewing-gummy.

Kryolan aquacolours were better as they are a dryer consistancy, mainly, but some of them went extra crumbly and needed a lot of sort of 'polishing' with the sponge on the face to get rid of little lumps.

the best all rounder, as said by others, was definitely Grimas. It was the ONLY one not to melt, tho the pearls did go a little bit soft but not to mush like other brands. Some of them did sort of 'weep' a little so you had a little (usually yellow or red) lioquid seeped out if they had got really hot, but that just wiped off and didn't affect the colour. What else; um, keep them out of the sun, obviuosly; the flat icepack under the paints doesn't really work, yes it cools them but also makes condensation on them which makes them too damp and more likely to melt! I used to 'resytore' them by leabving the pallette lid open under a de-humiodifier with the ACon too for a few days.
