So, this was fun! I so stink at painting my right side being right handed lol...Something to work on...along with roses which I discovered I CANNOT do yet! ugh...help! Oh, and I had more beginner photos, but my phone died and didn't save the pics I THOUGHT I had taken...so step 1 is really like step 3 lol.

Materials used: Wolfe white for base and details, Tag black, Snaz for the other colors, Loew Cornell 0 & 00 for linework, snaz sponges

Lorrin, your pics r beautiful! Are u a photographer as well? Or have a studio in-house? I love all the details on your skull, turned out awesome!

Oh, thanks. Yes, I do photography - family, kids, portraits - blah, blah, blah. Here is a photo of my set up, not really professional looking but it works surprisingly well. I have a lot more studio lights but I really like the effect of a bounce flash (external) way more.
Camera: Digital SLR 20d
Lens: 24-70L f/2.8 (although my 100mm f/2.0 is also to die for and way cheaper!)
Flash: Canon 470 external with a white card taped onto the front to bounce onto ceiling or rear wall.
Always on a tripod (shown here is my vintage 1960's Kodak which is awesome!)
Not required - the insane wall of books or the fat obnoxious cat.

Every time I get set up she either sleeps on it or pees on it - so annoying!

Paradise Black, white, orchid, berry, storm cloud
round #4 and #1, sponge
Steps: Sponge white on full face and berry on eye, line eye and lace around eye.
paint spade on nose, and spider web on forehead. shade web with storm cloud.
orchid purple on flower on chin, temples and hollows of cheeks.
line work for lips and cheek.

Sara, this made me laugh because I did some designs in the tub and took some pictures. Emma says "were you in the tub?" and I realized I'd taken shoulder shots AND there was tile behind me. I'm so clever! I guess I won't be using those in my design book! Not Photoshop worthy! LOL

scgilland, I'm glad you like the videos. It's hard to overcome the inertia to do them, but once we start we have a lot of fun with them.

Bronze Sugar Skull.

Used DFX Black and White, metalic white. TAG Pearl Old Gold, Pearl Bronze Green, Pearl Black.
Sponges, small flat for dry brushing. Round 4 and 2. Four jewell pieces to create a cross. Eyelash Glue.

What is it with cats and peeing on everything? Mine have two litter boxes and access to outside and they STILL pee on my clean laundry. Never my dirty laundry of course . . .

Ottergirl. Those are just four little jewellery pieces stuck down into the shape of a cross. I picked them up from the markets in a scrapbooking store. As soon as I saw them the whole face just popped into my head. I couldn't wait to get home and get started. After running around to find some eyelash glue first of course.

so Metina, any chance you are willing to give 2nd and 3rd (4th and 5th??) prizes out? That would make posting an entry a little less daunting!

ok here is my entry. used all TAG paints
black white and red. a number 2 and 4 round brushes and a rake brush also 1 sponge
for some reason i can't add a finale pic right now so will try later and add it in edit.

Green Sponge, #4 Round Brush, Liner Brush
Mama Clown glitter in Hot Pink, Liquid Bling- Silver, Bling Rhinestones in Diamond, Light Green and Dark Pink.

I have never been able to use false eyelashes. I'm totally retarded at sticking those things on.
