Thanks guys- I love my daughter's mouth. She has really full lips- no idea where they came from! This is my inspiration pic- I painted it right before the contest started and didn't take a step-by-step. But I'm glad I had the chance to change it up and make it better. I have one more Sugar Skull idea to try (first have to find the right model)before I can look through the rest of the thread- I know if I look at the other entries first I won't have the guts to post!

geekophile love the half/half idea. I looked up some pages of info on Sugar Skulls and Day of the Dead before doing mine, for inspiration, and to get a better understanding of what they were all about, and your idea really brings out the celebration of both Life and Death, to me anyway. Beautiful!

Love the clockworks, gears and chains one too...gonna have to google steam punk now and find out what this is all about!!!

Steam punk is so cool! You should watch the movie "Steamboy" to get a feel for what it's all about.

Sophie, as gorgeous as your daughters lips are, I love the shading on the skulls teeth on the other side!! Awesome idea with the contrasting sides.

Delidee, love your strong bold skull and the diamond...rocks! OMG dont' mind me, that was bad.

and Tracy I love your snake, what a cool idea, and travelling between the eye sockets is brilliant.

Man, I do have another idea for a sugar skull, but won't have time to get it in. Beside my skin actually needs a bit of a break from the whole paint/clean process.

Everyone here is so talented! I decided to try a sugar skull for the first time today....on my 3 year old, lol.
After lots of begging and bribing I was able to do a little something, nothing as grand as what so many of you have done though.

I have a GREEDY 3 year old who will do anything for a price, and sweets happen to be like crack for her, lol.

I painted my first sugar skull on Wed, but wanted to try it again today...excuse the 'crazy hair'...I'm going to have a shower right now!



Here is the step by step...I forgot to mention I used some TAG Pearl Lime on the green bits.
