Re: Professional Face Painter
Wow... I can't believe you got the nerve to do it. I was too scared. The photos look great and show everything perfectly. Thank you so much for doing this. I'm posting it on the Safety page on my website right now.
Re: Professional Face Painter
Can you give us all, presuming we want to use your photo(s), a form of written permission that we can cut & paste, and print to keep on file?
It doesn't have to be fancy, just something like I hereby give permission for the photo files named filename.jpg etc to be used by anyone wishing to use them. The photos named are copyright free. And your real name of course!

Re: Professional Face Painter
Oh good point Shannon, I didn't even think of something like that on here. I'm used to doing it for kids, but not for something like this.
Re: Professional Face Painter
By all means use the photos in any way you like. Crop it, color it, scribble across it (just don't go giving me a moustache and devil horns or anything mean like that!)
Let's see... what did Shannon say?
I, Sophie Houser, hereby give permission for the photo files named IMG_7806.jpg, IMG_7807.jpg, and IMG_7808.jpg to be used by anyone wishing to use them. The photos named are copyright free.
Good?

Re: Professional Face Painter
Oh Sophie, thank you. I think we should all chip in for a spa facial for you. :-D

Perhaps "irony" wasn't quite the right term... CJ, help? What did I mean?
I think irony is a good word for it. It's ironic that there's so much public outcry and focus when it comes to putting the paint on animals but very little concern or awareness when it comes to slapping the stuff on our kids. There is a better word to sum up the situation, but I can't think of it right now.
Re: Professional Face Painter
Thanks Sophie, I've saved the permission and the photos...
Don't be offended when it shows up as WHAT NOT TO DO!!

Re: Professional Face Painter
So glad you all appreciate my sacrifice! LOL! After painting this I honestly can't believe anyone who has had access to actual face paints would still use craft paint for faces. It was not easy to use. Dried before I could blend anything and started cracking while I was still painting!
Re: Professional Face Painter
what sophie no step by step??? but it looks so nice! lol
i must admit i am guilty of trying acrylic paint on my kids face but was wayyyyy b4 i knew better and only once as it was so hard to use. i don't know how anyone can claim that it blends well at all plus the colours are way off.i can understand painting on a budget but i think buying the 5 primary colours in face paint and mixing your own would be even better than using that stuff!

Re: Professional Face Painter
I can speak first hand for blending your own colors that with snaz, it wasn't that hard. I put the cakes in plastic bowls, added enough water to puddle around them and put lids on until the next day. They were then the consistency of frosting and I mixed them into the colors I needed and put them in separate containers. It was my first major purchase of paint and it was all 75ml snaz primary colors. I must admit, having complete control over the colors was nice, but I like a nice a neat looking set-up and there's just no way to make homemade cakes look nice so I never did it again. So for anyone still using craft paint, this is a real option.
Re: Professional Face Painter
Can anyone using Sophie's photo post what they did with it so we can all work together to get the best looking way to use it. Here's what I've got so far.

I doodled around and came up with this...
Thanks for your sacrifice Sophie!

Re: Professional Face Painter
Awsome Angie lol, we should just start advertising this lol. You'd think even any FP would take this into consideration you know. Not to use acrylics to paint on ANYONE, especially if you want to be considered a professional in this business then you need to have the best materials. maybe not the best but atleast cosmetic face paint.

Re: Professional Face Painter
Thank you Sophie for doing what you did and allowing us to utilize the photos. Prayerfully with all of us who feel strongly about this will use this to our advantage and hopefully change the minds of some painters to step up to better products as well as some consumers not to accept just any ole thing.
Re: Professional Face Painter
If you use acrylic paint for face painting and the person has a reaction and decides to sue you then what??? Even if you carry insurance (everyone should), you will not be backed by the makers of the acrylic paint because it clearly states that it is for crafts and not for the skin. At least with the FDA approved face paints you have something to back you up. Enjoy face painting but remember safety and the child's welfare should come first.
