Least favourite one stroke, and why?
Hi all!
I've scoured the threads on one-strokes, and there's lots out there on people's favorites, but which one-strokes would you avoid if you had the chance to go back in time?
If you do have one you wouldn't buy again, why?
Thanks in advance, and let me know if this has already been answered elsewhere (I'm sorry if I overlooked it!)

Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I just bought "True Rainbow" from Kyrvaline and I find that the there are so many colors, that they are so small they get muddy really fast.
Everything else I have I like

Peacock arty cake. The one that I have looks lovely in its container, but doesn't go as bright and lovely on the skin. May be I have one of the bad batches!?
I bought it because it's such a big favorite among teenagers. May be I need to try a different brand Peacock OS !

Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I only have a handful so far, but my least fave is like codegirl's. I got the arty true rainbow and it just bleeds ugly. I have to be very careful using it. I went ahead and bought the four color rainbow and like it better, but I'm still not great at using one strokes overall.
I also bought the leaf white TAG cake and wished I bought the leaf yellow instead, because I think the yellow would blend better for leaves and snakes. But I still like it well enough.

Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
Thanks guys! Really great input so far! I've looked lustfully at the peacock ones a few times, but I honestly don't like the colours, so even though it's so popular, I couldn't see myself using it!!
I can say that I DO NOT like my DFX neon rainbow one stroke. It comes out very sheer, and doesn't really give me much "pop". I'll probably use it up, but would stick with regular 4 colour TAG from now on!

Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
Mellygee....have you tried sponging your neon rb? It. Works better that way.
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I haven't yet... I really do like the nice clean arc that comes with flat, but I'm willing to try anything! Do you find it hard to use a one stroke with a sponge? I haven't read much about one strokes and sponges at all, but whatever works, right?
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
duh...I was thinking split cake--hope I didn't confuse you as much as I did me.
I have a neon tag bih split cake that works soo much better with a sponge.

Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I don't love the
neon rainbow: way too sheer
the 4 color: not a "true" enough rainbow, it's more pastel
true rainbow: too fiddly to pick up enough color to make it pop, and muddies very easily, but when I'm patient enough to make it work, it's very pretty
Peacock - dull. The bronzy gold color just doesn't quite work in practice even though it's a pretty color on it's own
Metina carries a few different types of TAG peacock cakes (fancy feather or elegant feather or something like that that work better).
I keep threatening my kit with a new one-stroke rainbow that I make from scratch but I haven't done it yet.
Ones I can't live without to balance my whining about the ones above:
Black/Red/Orange/Yellow
Black/Dk Green/Light Green/Yellow
Black/White
Dk Brown/Light Brown/Cream
Purple/Pink/White
Dk Blue/Lt Blue/White

I'm glad to see you have good things to say about elegant feather! That's one of the ones I was debating not ordering... but ended up ordering anyway.
I'm also sitting on the edge of my seat to see whether or not I like pearl 3D leaf!

Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I didn't love the pearl leaf or pearl dragon as much as matte versions, but I don't hate them.
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I love the Tag onestroke "Cocktail" it has neon colors and makes a great rainbow!!
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
The majority of my case is comprised of splits and 1s cakes. Tag 1s's have yet to disappoint me. I've had issues with muddiness with Cameleons(they look soooo nice in the cake, but I just can't get them to work consistently). I personally don't use the pearls very often, I like the brighter combos. I had an old TAG peacock mix no longer can find that was super saturated and bright... back just shows "custom" so not sure where I picked it up. Have TAG current peacocks and they are good, but not as bright as the mystery one.
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
Hmm disappointing one strokes.
I'm with Melly, the Tag neon rainbow one stroke sucks with a brush.
As with all my neon colors they work better with a sponge, otherwise you really have to layer them with a brush. The neon one stroke also doesn't allow you to pick up all the colors with most #12's so i end up having to choose which side and color i want. I wouldn't buy it again, in fact i took it out of my kit because the kids see it and always want it over the regular rainbow (which is WAY better). Just like me they see it and think it's going to look amazing, and then a bit disappointed when it doesn't. :/
Oddly enough the 'tropical' neon split cake i have no problem with!
The neon rainbow one stroke still has it's uses tho, with a sponge it's great for applying neon rainbow eye shadow, or a small neon rainbow area in the design. But i have to keep the cake itself hidden.
I couldn't live with out my tag regular rainbow one stroke cake though! What a time saver! Such a rainbow cheat, i love it to bits!

Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I hated a true rainbow I bought I think it was TAG.. I tend to make my own now usually sticking with no more than 4 colors per cake to keep it simple and easy to use in a hurry... However if I was rich I would own every single one...
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
Oh I think if we were rich Metina could close up shop and take a huuuge vacation when we were done :p
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I'm with most of you. I too baught the neon rainbow cake and it's near impossible to work with.
Some of my favorites tho are
Tag peacock-it's beautiful with fairydust glitter.
Leaping Lizzy has been a HUGE hit and the colors are so vibrant.
Unicorn and stargazer are pretty big hits and easy to work with as well.

Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I agree about the neon one stroke! The colours bleed awfully, the orange just turns a dirty mud colour.. yuck! You can get it to paint in the true colour but it takes a bit of messing about. I wouldn't buy it again! I think I'm going to stick to 4 colours absolute max for a 30g one stroke, anymore than this doesn't seem to work very well.
The tag petal one stroke is much more sheer than I thought it'd be.. I was undecided for a while on it but I quite like it now for pretty girly designs - however, I wouldn't rush to buy it again as it's just not as WOW as I thought it'd be.
I just ordered the cocktail tag one stroke which will be here tomorrow so I'm hoping this will be more vibrant for rainbows.

I love my Tag Cocktail one stroke. It makes beautiful rainbows!!
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I make my own small and large neon splits using neon magenta, neon yellow, and neon blue- works like a charm! You can buy the 50g Tag as Carnival. (I can't take credit cause I learned about on a thread here!)

I agree!
Here is a “lady” I used it on at Nashville Pride last year. My favorite one stroke.
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
Cocktail came today and it's gorgeous! Actually its how I imagined my neon rainbow one stroke would be as the blue blends into the yellow to make a gorgeous green gradient in between.
Re: Least favourite one stroke, and why?
I also dislike the true rainbow, I also use a 4 color rainbow that I made (pearl pink, yellow, light blue, purple)
I dislike the neon one strokes, I make them and put small strips of regular next to the neons.
The two cakes I cannot live without, 1. Caty Gervais inspired one stroke, and a leaf cake.
The one I made similar to caty's is Berry wine, neon magenta, neon orange, yellow.
