Do I dare face paint & glitter tattoos at gigs solo?

Sorry in advance for not introducing my self 1st. I'm a newb to this forum. (Into will come) I've been venturing into the glitter tattoos world . Do I dare to attemp face painting & offer glitter tattoos alone?

Is that something u guys have done?

I did a charity event recently where I didn't sit for 5 hours, I try to imagine myself squeezing glitter tattoos in.

Hi FPbyKat, It's not impossible but it is very hard to do in a timely manner. It really depends on how many kids you have, how much time and how quick you can paint. I usually get someone to do the tattoos and just pay them.

Hi Welcome to the forum! My family works with me during big festivals .. I have an extra table for glitter tattoos so while they're choosing the tattoo my kids (13-11) prepare the skin(cleaning with alcohol swab)and applying tattoos and glue .. So if I'm painting I turn and apply the glitter colors and they finished brushing off all the glitter excess and gave card care !! My kids and partner are very helpful

I myself just offer facepaint, but I have been thinking of doing glitter tattoos. So I have been wondering about the same thing too!

Last weekend I had a party at my husbands company, and there was a clown there. She offered both and she was alone. Most of the time/ kids she did glitter tattoos.

Now this wasn't a very big croud to work with, so that may make a difference perhaps? I think there were about 30 children there?

So it is possibly, but I think it depends on the sitiuation.

I have done fp parties and I have done gt parties. When I have combo parties, my daughter goes along and does the tattoos. She's faster than I am, anyway.
I pay her.

I offer both, but one activity at a time. One activity is put away before the next activity comes out, as I don't like to switch back & forth or for kids to want both at the same time (unless it's the guest of honor). I charge by the hour. It works well for me. Hope that helps.

Yah, I think would bring a helper if I decide to debut my glitter tats. Unless I drink 2 red bulls and try it out.
I have a 2 day festival coming up and won't have a helper till the 2nd day.

You could offer them, but as separate entities if you wanted to do it by yourself. You don't have to do them both at the same time. I do face painting, glitter tattoos, and airbrush tattoos. I offer all three at fairs and festivals, but with my glitter tattoo,s I airbrush first and add glitter or cover them in glitter. For private events I will probably be offering them as a separate party. Like others, if I offered more than 1 at private events I would have to have two people, or have a longer time period at the event.

I do offer both, I still find that at festivals i do more FP than GT anywho, I did tell my hubby i want him to try and do some glitter tattoos but we'll see if he will lol.
I have stopped offering the birthday party combo of FP and GT tho. Only time i do that now is for returning customers who have had it in the past like this next weekend i have coming up is a combo party lol. Mainly i only do both at Pay per face events such as festivals and fairs tho.

I offer both at parties or corporate events. I usually make the kids get only one at a time so that they are not holding up the line. Really all it requires is more space. I do sometimes get a bit of glitter in my paint, but one swipe of the sponge on the next kid and that's gone.

Yes, but it can be irritating in the beginning. You will need to develop a system of organization that works for you. Like anything, if you do it a lot, you will get use to it.

Lacey’s Faces - why did you stop offering it a private parties? just curious

I offer it as a package for small parties since I have a two hour minimum but I do everyone’s faces first, then break out the glitter tattoo stuff.

Only time I did it at a festival, I had my DIL do them while I painted. Face painting was more popular.

Takes me about the same amount of time to paimt a face as it does to do a tattoo, so I plan to offer it next time I do a festival solo.

All the time. I have a very anally retentive system of organization that allows to switch back and forth with ease. I do only allow kids to get one or the other at a sitting and at some parties, the client will specify either or.

Is there a link around to a thread talking about glitter tattoos? I would like to know how to use them more effectively than I have. I have not been able to make them time-efficient, and don't know the limits on the stencils (or do you hand-paint them?)

I wouldn't do it unless the festival is going to be very very slow. In which case, you probably don't want to do it at all!

I would stick to face painting and train someone to do glitter tats. Really, anyone can do them but not anyone can face paint well.

Thanks to this discussion I broke out my old glitter tats and offered them at this weekend's event. It went pretty well. Thanks for all of the useful information and encouraging words. Everyone who reads the thread can be helped.
