I don't want to wet the face again obviously. What do you do?

Dip your paintbrush in water.
Squeeze out the excess.
Plunge brush into glitter.
Roll the glitter onto design.
Rinse brush.
Or, dab it on with your fingers.
Or, use a glitter wand from the FacePaintForumShop.

I have done it with a really light spritz of water from a distance. I have a bottle that offers a fine mist so it works and doesn't make the paint run.

Does fesspenter mean to wet my finger, then dab. Is a glitter wand, glitter gel?

I use a lollipop sponge, mist IT lightly so you don't make it wet enough to reactivate the design, and then dip the whole head in a jar of glitter and pick up the glitter and apply. The only time I've had trouble with this is when my sponge was too wet or I tried to do it over black....just mist it once from about a foot away. I've seen other's like Marcela wipe their finger on a wet wipe and then pick up glitter and place it. Same idea, different applicator.

i dip the non brush side into water then into the glitter and roll on, it always seems to work for me

Your finger can pick up glitter without wetting it first, although you may wet it then dab in glitter.
Suzy Sparkles glitter gel is GREAT. That is another thread. It is clear gel with glitter suspended in it to create a 3D accent of glitter.
The Face Paint Forum Shop has a Glitter Wand (or a Glitter Applicator) in accessories. It is a small, flat, shovel-shaped piece of silicone with a handle attached. It easily picks up some glitter and deposits it exactly where you want it. I bought one each for my team on a big job we did this summer together.

If I want the glitter to have staying power on the design, I spritz first or lay it down while the makeup is still wet. I try not to touch the child with my fingers as a matter of preference, instead I use the lollipop wands if I need to glitter the lips or some small area. Regardless of how you do it, if the paint doesn't somehow become reactivated so it can grab the glitter, the glitter will have minimal longevity. A mister or spritzer usually does the trick without disturbing the artwork.
