Re: Starblend Skull
Denise, do you have a link to that Jinny butterfly? It sounds fab. Also, I love your boards. Great way to give the kids an idea of what they're getting, without it being all specific and photo-ish, if you get my meaning.

Re: Starblend Skull
I'm not done yet, still painting little black squares. Just thought I'd fill you all in on the progress. None of the designs are secured, I'll probably group them into Boy/Girl/Animal...
The squares are 5" across, I can't remember how tall... I will we able to fit 20 faces per board, I could fit more if I didn't have the white border, but I want to put my business info along there.
The second picture was my original plan, much like Denise's, to paint directly on the board. I got very scared and decided to do the bristol board cut-outs lol.

I love your boards. Very cute. I think having the titles is a good idea. I did that on my super quick boards. It's a lot easier than making them get off the chair when they say "gorilla" and it's really a skull.
https://youtu.be/ESJ1AFWH2Kw Here's the Youtube link for Jinny's tutorial. She does separate colors but I just use my rainbow cakes and then a coordinating either white or darker color. I can't emphasize enough that you want the brush very dry, it it's too wet you lose the effect. Might be easier with Paradise.
Here's a white version from a birthday but I'm kicking myself for not taking more pictures because I did like 4 different combos. I'll have to ask the mom for some. And then a black version on me.

Re: Starblend Skull
Jessica--and others who have done a board---do you just paint right onto the black with facepaints? I did some pictures of mine and used colored pencils, but drawing straight onto the paper would work right??
Plus what is that black stuff and where do you buy it?
How do you load a dry brush? I am sure there is a thread around here, but I was totally impressed with the video and want to learn how to do THOSE kind of butterfly's---all of mine are loopy and large (see avitar for a sample--not a butterfly, but similar to my butterflys)

Re: Starblend Skull
Denise - thanks for the link, I'm definitely going to watch it when I'm not half-dead and hiding under a blanket. I love your butterflies!
Jessica - I love your board, and your little paintings! I'm curious (like amylady) about what you painted them with. Please tell!
Amylady - she says she painted them on black Bristol board, which is a type of thick watercolour paper. You should be able to find it online or at a local arts supplier, but any black watercolour paper should do the trick, I'd think.

Re: Starblend Skull
Jessica, I like your idea of doing individual squares. I was fearful to start a board like Denise's because I could see me almost getting one done and then making a huge mistake and scrapping the whole board. (I'm just not as talented as Denise!!) Thanks!
