Scored a ton of Silly Heather brushes $9! Empty Scored a ton of Silly Heather brushes $9!

Post by wmeventservices Sun Mar 04, 2012 12:22 am

Hey guys, I'm not sure if every hobby lobby carries them, but I just bought a 30 brush classroom set. They were $15, I used a 40% off coupon and paid $9. I've always been a Royal Majestic fan so I never tried these, but figured for $9, I'd give them a shot. They are Golden Taklons. The set included 15 flats and 15 rounds. I originally figured I'd throw out the flats since they were too long and small to use for splits. After playing, they make amazing tiger and butterfly stripes. I'd recommend these to anyone and might have just flipped from a Royal Majestic to a Golden Taklon girl. Same quality for less money. But they haven't stood the test of time yet so we will see how they hold up. Either way, 30 brushes for $9 is awesome!

You can also pay $13 online at http://www.dickblick.com/products/royal-langnickel-golden-taklon-classroom-value-packs/#photos

How funny! I got the exact same set about 5 weeks ago - same price, coupon and everything. I really love it. I didn't realize that these were "Silly Heather" brushes - just seemed like a really good price. These are the ones that my 11 yo DD uses to practice with.

The other funny is that my newest "go to" brushes are the Royal Majestics that came in the 6 pack. Got them the same day...

I used to love this set of faber-castells with plastic triangle handles... Darice makes them, too... but, anyway... blah blah

I'm glad you love your new brushes! My brush drawer is chock full now and I don't feel nearly so protective of my brushes. ;-)

I may be wrong but yellow handle the brush you see in Heathers hand most often is a Loew Cornelle White Nylon, for some reason SF calls them by another name, Gold Line. I am sure she uses other brushes too, but I did just see the LC brush in her hand on FABATV.

The Loew Cornell White Nylon #4 is the one Mark Reid used for many years, then he switched to the Loew Cornelle acrylic handle La Corneille brush.

I can't image actually throwing out brushes, I am sure a local school, headstart or such can put whatever brushes, used or new an artist does not want. On the FPBAA site Cynthia Keeler one of the original producers for FABAIC and the original producer for FPBAC is looking for supply donations for a charity.

Ahhh... Sorry, I thought these were the same ones. Either way, I've used them and find them to be excellent brushes. I've bought a ton of "cheap" brushes along the way to find what I like and these use like the expensive ones I've invested in at the price of the "cheap" ones. Sorry to mislead anyone.

Yes i agree the ones Silly Farm sells are the Lowe-Cornell 700 series ...I see L-C has some new really expensive per brush with acrylic handles......maybe one at a time...they really are a fabuloous brush....what I miss is the Donna Dewberry One Stroke brushes ...yet again...they changed those too.....I know my set of those look ancient..all the paint is chipped off and flaking. But I use them and the L_C Gold handles and the L-Cornell white handle ones also. I was out today and was looking for a set of brushes my 10 year and my Mom can share on one set up. I found Hobby Lobby no longer is going to carry the Majestic series....There are alot of brushes and I think for about 13.00 per pack (approx 13-11 brushes per pack) So I bought what they had and they aren't so bad....I like the little #1, #2 for tiney details...remind me of Mark Ried brushes. Has anyone gotten the FLora brush by Lowe-Cornel #2 totally best 8.39 I spent today...makes some really awesome leaves and petals. I try to curb my brush obsession....now it is bling lots of BLING I am really loving Mardi Masks.....sigh ...i definitely need more blingy things

I am with you on loving the flora brush. It reminds me of the #6 camouflage brush with the lines you can get from it.

I got the box of brushes Whitney, they are nice! I wish the 4's were round! Good buy for nine bucks! I am digging simply simmons right now too. It took me a while to warm up to them.

The Majestic brushes by Royal are being phased out. As for the Loew Cornell a few of their brush lines have a 7000 series, so don't be confused when you look to aquire them. The acrylic handled ones have been around a couple of years now. The newest LC brushes are wood handled with special brush shapes.

You can get the coupons for Hobby Lobby from your phone.. google search Hobby Lobby and they have their weekly coupon there. The nice sales lady did mine. For Michaels and Joanns just coupon search their company.
