Max's First Bath Empty Max's First Bath

Post by MelodyFPL Thu Feb 23, 2012 9:52 am

I gave my Max his first bath today. Took everything out, wiped everything down with a damp rag, I mean every paint brush handle, every one stroke cake lid, every little anything, and oh man! Glitter everywhere, starblend dust, tiny gems that have gone astray, driplets of paint water, what a mess! I removed all the dividers, the tray, etc, and put Max in the bathtub. Thankfully I have a removable shower head. I sprayed Max with Mr. Clean and then washed and rinsed with hot water in all his nooks and crevices. I had to towel dry him immediately because I didn't want his metal parts to rust. It was really quite a chore! I don't know why I find it necessary to tell this long drawn out story when I all I REALLY want to know is...
How do YOU clean your Fatmax? Is there an easier way?

LOL, Melody! You gave FatMax a bath and I gave 100 sponges a bath! Should we read them a story now?

Ohh yes that too. I had a whole bucket of dirty sponges and of course, couldn't put them back in the kit until they were totally dry. Bacteria and mold, you know.

I just wipe mine down with a cloth... time consuming, I know.

We could send them through the car wash maybe!

I use antibacterial wipes and it takes me about 20-30 minutes to get every little crevice clean...except after I did the pumpkin patch and corn maze, I had dirt and straw everywhere and mud all over the wheels and everything....I hosed off the wheels and used a damp washcloth then used my antibacterial wipes...that took the better part of an hour.

Last October, one of the teen on-lookers at a Haunted House at my youngest daughter's high school, opened his 2 Litre bottle of COCA-COLA over my kit.

You know what happened next.

After the initial wipe down at the high school...I took FM home and wiped her down, twice. Still sticky.

I threw FM into the shower with Mr. Clean and sprayed with my hand held shower head. Dried with paper towels. Still sticky.

Wiped with wipes for interior of cars from Canadian Tire. Finally clean.

I do not recommend pouring Coca-Cola into your FM. It is sticky.

I did find out that the disposable car wipes really, really work.

Happy Clean Fat Max!

I had a bucket of dirty water spill into the bottom of Maxie... where I kept my paints & also happened to have all my Illusion Mags Crying or Very sad

I melted away a lot of paint & lost the mags... Sad day in the life of Maxie... I now do not store my dirty water down there & my clean water is in a sealed bottle that sits inside a bucket.

I wipe Maxie down w/ antibacterial wipes, inside & out. I clean the top tray in the sink w/ dish soap. I do this after every weekend & sometimes between gigs if it gets real bad.

Dang. I guess I will have to just wipe it down like ya'll do. Lugging it into the bathtub was just ridiculous. In the summer, it's garden hose time!
