Hunger Games Anyone?
Hey Guys!
I was just contacted about doing a Hunger Games event. I would be painting and doing glitter tats. It is like a pre-show party before the midnight showing. What do you guys think? I am concerned because the booth fee is kinda high and not sure if it is worth the time and money to have custom tattoo stencils made (even if Kat says yes, hi Kat!) and if face painting is something that people would like there but then again maybe because of the Capitol and the way people dress/act there. So maybe. I am kind of rambling and I would like to know...do any of you have similar events and do you have any ideas for face painting or stencil designs? Do you think it would be worth it? I was thinking about hair painting too...don't several of the capital characters have colored hair?
Thanks so much!

Re: Hunger Games Anyone?
Just read the trilogy, really enjoyed the books. In the books they're just basically people, but I've not seen the movie tho' so am unsure as to what the makeup could be like? Have they made it very stylized?
If it wasn't going to cost anything, I'd go for it - any chance to face paint at the moment is hungrily grasped upon for me, as it's been an incredibly dead (and tight) winter here... but as you mention high booth fees, I would hesitate, especially as it's an unproved market. Maybe you could convince them to go with a split in your income (they get 30%? or something.)
Good luck!

If you haven't read the books yet, read them. Especially the first one; it's the most important.
As far as designs go, definitely do the mockingjay because it's pretty much the symbol of the entire series. In the books, there are twelve districts. Each has a different purpose. They actually dress the tributes up based on these purposes in a few scenes, which could give you some ideas. District 12, where the main characters are from, is the coal district. So they are dressed based on the uses of coal. At one point the protagonist, Katniss, wears an outfit that is on fire.
If you google the books, you can probably find some info on the districts, which would probably help you figure out what to do for each. The great thing, though, is the Capital. The people in the Capital are pretty weird, to say the least. They dye their skin different colors, tattoo crazy designs all over their bodies, paint their faces, hair, etc. One lady is even surgically altered to look like a cat. So the ideas are really limitless as far as painting goes.
My advice : read the books. Not only will you get a lot of ideas, but you will also get a great read in the process. Have the stencils made. This movie is definitely geared toward teens, and they love glitter tattoos. Plus, there will be two more movies after this one, so you will most likely get your money's worth.
Good luck!

Good advice ^^^
Using those concepts, each district has its own power - one provides agriculture and food, one security, one coal (Katniss' as said above) etc. You could do cheek designs even with those things in mind too.

I know Faketoos has a stencil of Kat's pin, she wears it to the Hunger Games.
Great book, only read the first but the rest are on my list. As stated, people in the capital are really wild with their hair, skin color and tattoo designs. This would be a great event to paint/tattoo at. I would ask it they would do a split with you, as your services would really tie in and enhance the event.

Re: Hunger Games Anyone?
How much is the booth fee & how many hours will you have to face paint? Figure out how many you can paint in an hour & what you'd need to charge to make your profit. Subtract any expenses you might have & that will let you know if it's worth doing.
I've been looking at the pics online from the movie & I want those false eyelashes Effie was wearing. They look way too cool.

Re: Hunger Games Anyone?
Glitter tattoos will be big. The people in the Capital get elaborate multicolored tattoos all over their bodies. Find a way to read the first book. It explains all of the elaborate makeup and designs that the people of the capital get. Practice the mockingjay logo: you'll be doing it a lot. Fire is a big motif, as well. The main character is constantly referred to as the girl on fire.

Re: Hunger Games Anyone?
I'm willing to bet Zildy HAS read the books. Where is the event? Sounds fun! I just started reading the book today! Lots of fun ideas are running through my head for tattoos. Could be fun! When is the event? If you want, I'll split the fee with you and we can risk it together! I'll make the stencils and we can work it out.
Re: Hunger Games Anyone?
GUYS! I have not been ignoring you, I didn't get any alerts that you had responded for some reason, wierd.
And Kat is right I have read the books....soooo good. Basically I got nothing done until I had read the series twice. (and I had never read a series twice before that!) Anyway...so yes I was a bit discouraged but you are making me get encouraged and I think I will go for it! Especially if Kat you are serious and would like to split it with me...let's go for it! I will email you details when I get a chance I am working for my other job all day today, but soon I will. Yay I am excited now and if anyone has any other ideas...please share!
So far I was thinking:
Mocking jay pin
Flames
Girl shooting arrow
And of course a bunch of wacky stuff in my back pocket for the Capitol people. I was thinking hair painting as well, what do you think of that?

Re: Hunger Games Anyone?
I just finished the first book at midnight last night. This story already feels a little bit like Twilight, and Peeta is the Jacob character. Team Peeta, all the way!!!

I honestly have no idea what this book is... But that makes me want to find out!
