Hello from Seattle (more or less)
Hello all!
My name is Dorothy, my nick name is Doe. I live in Edmonds, WA - just north of Seattle. I'm a professional actress/director/teacher (I act and teach in elementary schools across Western Washington) and have a photography company. I have been an actress my whole life and have had my photography business for 9 years.
I have done theatre makeup for years (have even taught stage makeup and hair workshops at the high school level) and have often been tapped to do volunteer facepainting at school, birthday parties and event fairs. I love doing it and have some innate skill and talent - but, I am far from a professional.
I learned on Krylon AQUACOLOR during college and JUST threw away my 24 year old aquacolor palette last autumn. I learned using far different techniques than today's facepainters so, I'm training myself up... split cakes, double loading, one stroke - all new to me! I can do great old age and am a pro at stippling, though!
Anyway - I have a mix of different paints, Wolfe bros, snazaroo, krylon and two random arty cakes that were on clearance. Waiting for some Starblends to arrive next week. I'm painting tomorrow night for a school event and the kids are great at letting me just do WHATEVER! I would love to add this to my birthday party offerings (I already do Super Model/photoshoot bday parties and Diva Parties) and am working hard at technique.
I have an 11 year old daughter who is pretty danged good at painting herself and loves to sit down at events w/me and paint faces. She watches training videos on youtube, reads my books and practices several times a week. I suspect she'll be a pro in no time.
I've been lurking on the forum for several months and just decided to jump on in!

Welcome Doe! It's awesome that you have a theatrical background--my dream job is to be a theatrical cosmetologist!
