Thank goodness for this forum - it's saving me from 'chunky' butterflies!
So I've been reading heaps (& heaps!) of old and new threads on here for any little snippet of information I can possibly absorb. My butterflies have previously been turning out really 'chunky' and 'heavy' on my face (if that makes sense?) and I'm really jealous of all the pro's light and airy feather-weight butterflies. (I especially love Daizy's - I think they must be the holy grail of FP butterflies!) Anyway, I had another go at tackling a butterfly just now & after all my forum reading I'm much happier with how it turned out. Not perfect, but definitely getting a bit better I think. So just wanted to show everyone and say a big THANK YOU to all of you fabulous painters out there who are so helpful & inspiring!
Colours used: TAG Wineberry, Metallic White & regular White, Snazaroo Black and Red.
ETA: There's a pic in here of my first full-face butterfly for comparison (painted about two weeks ago, I think) http://www.facepaintforum.com/t9195-newbie-from-australia

I think what makes it look less "chunky" or "heavy" is the simple fact that you made it smaller on the bottom. It draws the eye upward... gives it a lighter, airy-er (ha, new word) effect. Also, the way you contoured the outside line makes the butterfly wings seem feather-like. Very nice job... me likey!

I love your first butterfly as well!
You are ready to go forth and paint some kids... I know you said you didn't want to go pro... but, why not? Don't waste your natural talent. Imagine how many kids are missing out if you don't, lol

Very nice! I think your line work is pretty amazing!
And I agree about Daizy. She is the queen of "airy".
