Stick on gems
I've been using stick-on gems from the dollar store on myself, and wanted to know your thoughts on using them on kids? I only know of the Snaz ones for "pro" gems, and haven't found them here yet - I'm loathe to spend $17+ USD on them because of shipping.
I've never had a problem taking them off of my own face...
Thoughts?

Re: Stick on gems
I use ordinary flat back non sticky gems and use eyelash glue. I wouldn't care much about the sticky backed ones, except so far I have only used the gems on myself and like re use and re use them and they clean up nice from the eyelash adhesive.
Re: Stick on gems
I thought about the non-sticky gems, but I know I could never be bothered to put eyelash glue on them while at an event.
I guess it's not a huge deal - I don't need to use them (glitter is fun all by itself!) but sometimes I'd like to, and if they're deemed okay!
Does anyone here use gems? And from where?

Re: Stick on gems
If you use the glue that is on them (also the one from Snazaroo), you will have the kids coming back within the hour having them refixed. So use eyelash glue (or the one for making glitter tattoos) in the first place. I have a bunch with me, but always forget to use the (also because it takes so long). But for birthdays parties with more time, they are fun. Then maybe one for the guest as an many as she wants for the birthday girl.
Re: Stick on gems
I'm with Lone on this. I have them, but only use at "Princess Parties" ... they are way too fussy for real gigs.

I keep stick on gems for more upscale events.
But really just started to use them with kids on events where I have time to a
fix them. Meaning I paint fast paced gigs and don't usually have time to do a gem.
I worked with Fire Pixie at Faerieworlds she used the stick ons and I used eyelash/body glue on mine. Two minutes out of the chair the stick-ons were falling off mine lasted all day. I glued the gem, set it aside, painted and then stuck it on.

Re: Stick on gems
So...is the bottom line here that regardless of whether you use the stick-ons or the ones that use eyelash adhesive, the ones from the dollar store are fine to use, as opposed to having to use fp brand ones?
(Chances are that even if I had them for line work, I'd never actually get around to using them - I just wanted to make sure the "no name" gems are appropriate!)

Re: Stick on gems
Go ahead! I have used everything from big plastic "diamonds" with flat back to the small ones sold for nail art. Plus the one used for the purpose. One thing I would say, is that it is easier if they are a bit thick, so you can easy hold around them.
For this one https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=8388436&id=248516080703 I used three different kind of stones, since I did not have enough of one, and I definitely could feel the difference. Some got on in one try, others was just impossible to hold! (It took three hours, by the way)

Re: Stick on gems
I love the stickon gems! But I get little opportunity to use them because of the lines. I did use one on a little girl who wanted an ice cream cone on her cheek. I was so grateful to her for not asking for yet another $%^&* butterfly that I glittered the crap out of the thing and even got out my gems and used a red one for the cherry on top!
Re: Stick on gems
I use gems from wherever... I've made my own and used the ones from the scrap booking aisle. They work fine, and it's just a tiny spot of tape... Like a sticker, so it's not like you're putting anything on them that you wouldn't normally put on them. You'll be fine.
Also, I pretty much reserve gems for princess faces and the birthday girls face.

Hi guys,
I'm not around here so often, but anyway. I found a good deal about gems and I wanted to share it with you.
I tought the one from Silly Farm was kind of expensive so I was looking for a better deal. And I found it!
the Mama Clown Gems 75 pack is $5 on Silly farm.
Exactly the same ones are $7.99 the 500 pack!

Re: Stick on gems
I use the mehron glue with any generic flatback gems. I found it easier to adhere by putting 'sticky tack' on the end of a stick to hold the gem (round side) in place, add the glue to the flat side and stick to the face. Then you don't get glue on you
I use them just for parties too. When you have more time and want a little more glamour.

Re: Stick on gems
Here's a great trick to make your own stick on gems with out having to fuss with the eyelash glue/ other adhesive at the event: Put the adhesiv on the gems at home, and put them on wax paper. The glue will dry but remain really tacky. Then at the event just peel it off and stick! It's the best of both worlds! Quick and easy, but they won't fall off two minutes out of the chair.

Re: Stick on gems
Great idea! Thanks Punky. I don't use stick on jems. I have the ones I get from Michael's, but I always forget to use them. No one ever seems to notice.

Go to Oriental Trading Company http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/search/processRequest.do?Ntt=gems&requestURI=searchMain&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&N=0 & pick from GEMS, GEMS, gems for very little $$$!!!
Punky, what kind of adhesive to you use? I love the idea of using the wax paper!

Re: Stick on gems
I use either Eyelash adhesive or the latex stuff I use for my clown nose. The key is to use stuff that will stay tacky... otherwise the idea is bunk.
