Pre Stick your Gems?
I was using the gems with the little peel offs on the back and finally running out. Before I go out and get more i was reading about the different ways people apply their loose gems. my question is, If I want to pre make some for birthday parties and such can i make them stick, put them on something like wax paper and then just peel off when I'm ready?
Has anyone tried this?

I'm no help with your question, but am wondering how were the self-adhesive gems working for you? I can't seem to find any that will stay on for more than 5 minutes!

Re: Pre Stick your Gems?
I made a post about this because I was having the same problem.
what I've found is that if you use the adhesive, you just dot it on wherever you want your jewels, and then let it dry.
when it turns clear, it will be sticky to the touch, that is when you apply your jewels.you can apply them whether they have self adhesive already, or whether they have no adhesive.they will stay on all day, well into the night.
another thing you can do for SUPER sticky jewels is take a q-tip to clear off the area before you apply the adhesive...then let it dry til clear, then apply the jewel.
the main thing is to let it dry on the skin first, so no, applying it to the jewel in advance is not a good idea.just apply it at the event, let it dry, then apply the jewel.it works, trust me.

Re: Pre Stick your Gems?
I have a question, it is ok if I use the washable glue that I use for face glitter tattoos?
Re: Pre Stick your Gems?
yeah.your best bet is to make sure it is latex free but yes, any skin glue will work.

Re: Pre Stick your Gems?
Thanks, that is a lot of what i read as well. I currently used a container I either got at walmart or Michaels for around $5.89. It had hearts, stars, circles and butterflies all with little sticky backs. I have not had a problem. In the last year maybe had to replace 5 for customers? I do clean off a spot and push hard to getting to stick. I also made sure no really young got them so like ages 5 and up.
I would so like to just make my own. I guess I'll google and see if I can find ideas.

Re: Pre Stick your Gems?
sorry, i wasn't clear enough:
to make your own, you cut a peice of double sided mounting tape and apply to the back of the gem.
this is more work than the time it saves....if you just try the method i described, of waiting for the glue to dry completely, you will not have to replace for customers.

Re: Pre Stick your Gems?
Thanks Nikkili26, I will try that. I am always afraid it would take too long to dry when I have a line. Maybe I'll try it at my birthday parties next weekend for a test run.
Re: Pre Stick your Gems?
Yeah, it takes time. When I do parties, I tell the girls to go eat their cake and play, and come back when they finish for lipstick and jewels.lol... if they forget, oh well. I do all glue, then all gems, assembly line style.... middle forehead, above each brow, outer eye corner.
some boys will get a mustache, so I give them a gem diamond earring too.lol.
for line work ., it still takes time, but if you know where its going, you can glue that spot, paint your final highlights, then glue the gem.
for lines, I rarely add gems.unless it is a bling mask.
the best is outside on a windy day, but make sure you have a good grip on the gem. I put glue on a pencil eraser to pick up gems.

Re: Pre Stick your Gems?
Here's a tip. If you know that you are doing a design that is going to need a gem take it out before you start painting and dab it with glue. Then lay it aside. By the time you finish your design that glue will be tacky and ready to put on. It works for me. A stamp tong that a philatelist uses is what I like for picking up those hard to handle gems.
