Lookie what I made!
I promised myself I wouldn't buy some proper split and rainbow cakes until I had my first gig (which is still months away I reckon!) So today I bought these:
and, together with paint I already had, made these:
which ended up turning into these:
No idea WHAT I'm going to use them for!
Has anyone got any ideas how to stop them getting muddy? I was being careful and not using too much water, I promise!

Re: Lookie what I made!
I HATE the black - it was so damp and yuck straight out of the packet.
Most of them split ok, some were gluggy and had to be remodelled into shape. I had to put them in the freezer for a few minutes though as they were all just so spongy thanks to this heat.

Re: Lookie what I made!
I think they're very pretty. Play with them & see what the water amount is that you need. It's different for different brands.
You didn't do this, but a good piece of info is to avoid putting opposite colors next to each other as they will get a muddy looking where they blend together. I usually try to find a light color to fit between them. Don't put red/green, purple/yellow, blue/orange side by side without a barrier color like white.

When you see it's a little muddy, tap the end of the flat brush on a paper towel. (just barely tap)... then go back into the cake and work back and forth till it looks solid again.
Re: Lookie what I made!
Thanks for the tips! I plan to play with some designs tonight, yay!

I love the first two the best! Especially the first one... it's so tropical looking!!

Your neons are like that, really soft and gooey. Not all cakes are hard, metalics are crumbly, not very easy to cut and form spilts, but u just roll all mold to what you want.
