I would vote for 5-6 minutes because it is easier to remove elements of a design and make it quicker than the other way around.

Skylark...good point. I immediately said 3 min when I read the post, but I really like the idea of one design fitting both categories. Im sure you teach all skill levels and each level seems that they would want something different? I would think overall ...highest impact with least effort and simple tricks...stencils, dry brushing and "layering" your designs would be a huge hit!l.....and would fit into the one design two ways type of instructions. funny, when I look back at my first pics, I always say "I was only a few dots, smudges or teardrops away from making it a better design. Good luck!

I am torn...I actually like the quicker designs better. I would love to be able to pull off the #1 or #2 design in only 2 to 3 minutes. For me, it is easier to add more than to keep from putting in all the details once I start. Just me.

I would take your class any dayeven if it were the longer designs. Love your stuff.

They're all gorgeous. I guess in terms of teaching, the more involved the better - I agree that it's easier to 'take away' something that we learn, in order to make it our own and change it to our needs, than to add something we haven't yet learned.

Coming to Ontario any time soon? Smile

I am with Helena....coming to Ontario soon? Windsor would be good so I don;t have to pay for travel expenses since I just lost my job. But, I would love to learn your techniques and tricks. Are you doing any classes on FABA TV? Please, please....please say yes!!!
I absolutly love your designs.

The 5-6 minute design please! It's easier to take away certain elements from a design....btw that monster mask made from abc's looks AMAZING! Smile

I think majority should be 5 to 6 with a couple of 2 to 3 at the end lesson if you have time, simply so people leave with some awsome designs what they want but also have a couple of quick things to get them through rapid events etc.

I vote the 5 or 6 because I know one stroke well enough to figure out the smaller designs but I STILL can't quite see how you did the tiger and I LOVE the monster mask and your masks are fabulous.

question about teaching Empty Re: question about teaching

Post by Manja Tue Dec 20, 2011 12:51 am

I agree that it's easier to take away (simplify) in most cases, but it's also nice to learn some 2 min designs and then see some ideas on how to take them up a notch or two or three. Same thing, only the other way around. Just a different way the brain compartmentalizes the same information, I suppose.

I guess what I'm saying is that I would like both - the quick and the more elaborate designs - with emphasis on your unique techniques, methods of layering, and elements of design. Smile I want to learn everything I can from you, Rebecca!

Can't wait until March! I would also love to see you on FABAtv.

question about teaching Empty Re: question about teaching

I think you could do both in one class. Just show how to do a 1-3 minute design & then show how to expand on it for the 5-6. Both speeds are reasonable for any party or PPF event. I think what you teach best is the techniques on how to achieve artybrush style painting & then your students can take what they learn & go from their.

I would say a 3-5 minute design with ideas of how to make it shorter... I need to invest in FABA TV...

Hi Rachael

I sure the chances of you coming to Ireland are virtually nil but I absolutely love your style of face painting.

I'm patiently waiting for you on FABATV.

I agree with psalmbook.
