New Rose Tutorial by Jinny
Hello face painting friends.
I have discovered a new tutorial on the rose. Is the creator on this forum, I wonder?
The tutorial is easy to follow and the artist makes a really pretty classic rose.
I thought you might like to have a look. Towards the end of the video she includes a gallery of her roses incorporated into various body designs.
Hopefully I'll have a chance to try these out for myself tomorrow.

Love Jinny! Check out the other new one too! It's not a tutorial but the images are amazing.

Re: New Rose Tutorial by Jinny
Didn't Jinny design the colors in the Paradise cakes? I wished she'd done a few more layers but the colors and her technique are great. Loved the white flower spikes.

Thanks for the link. It was very helpful! I tried it out with different color combo and then added some shading due to not enough light and dark contrast. Jinny is amazing.

Re: New Rose Tutorial by Jinny
Oh those are bewdiful. You have perfected them. Mind if I ask, were you able to paint a nice rose previously, or has it been a struggle? My attempts at a classical rose thus far have been dismal... but I am yet to try Jinny's rose. I should get myself off the computer and open up my kit!
PS - It's now after 1am and I am covered in roses! I am absolutely blooming and I am also feeling pretty pleased with myself for following Jinny's directions and actually creating something that somewhat resembles a rose. I have taken a few pics (of course), but as I need to get up early and get kids to school (and there's only so much magic caffeine will do in the morning), I will post them tomorrow. Now I feel kind of sad that I will have to wash them off before going to bed.

Re: New Rose Tutorial by Jinny
Ok, so I stayed up late late late painting roses, roses, roses. I was blooming! The result, happy to say, not too bad. I kind of wish I had kept a pic of my first attempt at roses just to compare. But alas they were so bad and I was so disappointed that I deleted them. So here's what I managed:
Unfortunately I am not a delicate model... so you'll have to imagine what they might look like on a PYT... never mind, I loved them so much I didn't want to wash them off and actually wore them to bed. Partly because it was really late and I didn't have the energy to have a shower ... actually I half remember typing this message last night but doesn't look like I posted it, lol!

Re: New Rose Tutorial by Jinny
They are very pretty!!! The definition between white and pink is nice and crisp. If you don't mind a little constructive criticism... the only thing that might improve them - and they are great, don't get me wrong - is staggering the petals so they don't all end at the same point. Hope that makes sense? But you should be very proud of them. They are fantastic!
Re: New Rose Tutorial by Jinny
Don't mind criticism at all. Kept thinking that they don't look natural but couldn't put my finger on what to do about it. Will try that. Again, thanks.

Those are gorgeous and much more realistic than mine. Was only my second time trying roses so I'm hoping to improve as I get time to practice. There is SO much to learn. Hard to fit everything I want to do in my time off!
