Body Painting Help!
I was asked to do a body painting(my first!) I have no idea how much I should charge, or how much paint it would take, do any of you body painting veterans have advice for me? Should I just charge my hourly rate, or give a discount since its my first one(just in case I suck it up!)? Thankfully it will be a woman I would be painting-not really wanting to ever have to paint a naked man-yuck-lol! She just wants to do it for her husband. Please help me!! Need advice!
Re: Body Painting Help!
Hi,
I checked out your website and your regular rate seems pretty low at $50, but I don't know your economic area, either. I would definitely charge more, no less than $75/hr for body painting considering you're going to use a LOT more product than you would for 10 princess faces.
What design ideas are you going for?
Good luck!

Well, I haven't really talked to the customer about it yet, and will try to do what they request if I can, but I am up for ideas! Really not sure I am talented enough to pull this off-lol! We'll see possibly!
Re: Body Painting Help!
I have only done a couple of full bodypaintings. 3 to be exact. For the tiger I used nearly a whole 35g neon orange wolfe cake and about another half cake (if I add the white and yellow together) for the base. It was harder to estimate how much black I actually used.
It depends on how well the colours cover as well. For the second bodypainting I used wolfe metallic blue for the base and I needed about 1/2 of a 35g cake (maybe even less) as the coulour is very highly pigmented and covers really well. I also used about 10g of a self made split cake and then some white and black.
I hope that gives you an idea of how much paint you will be using.
I cannot help you with pricing as the bodypaintings I did were a collaberation between the models, photographers and me to help with our portfolios.

When you give a price, also keep in mind the time you will invest designing it. It will probably take you twice as long as you think it will to paint. Have music and have fun!

Yikes I just learned that she lives more than 2 hours away from me, This may take all day for me, not sure she is going to want to pay me for my whole day, and I won't want to do it if I don't get paid well enough to make it worth my time...hmm what to do-what to do?
