Gently and generously (slather it!) rub either some Vasoline (aka; petroleum jelly) or cold cream on your face and you will see the black loosening up as you rub. Then wipe it off carefully with a soft tissue. This works for me. Others use olive oil but that's pretty expensive. If you live in the States you can pick up petroleum jelly geek or cold cream for a buck at the Dollar Tree. I don't think there's a worthwhile black out there that doesn't leave a remnant of a stain behind on some people... but strangely enough it doesn't do it to everybody. I guess that's because there are so many different skin types.

How are you removing it?

When I just use soap and water, it stains. When I apply soap first and make a paste, then add water and follow up with moisturizer, I don't stain. Colors tend to stain thinner, drier skin more easily than moisturized skin. I always moisturize first if I don't want staying power, just a practice session. If I need deep cleaning, I use this product:

It's like vaseline without all the nasty petroleum bits.

Paradise makes good linework and doesn't stain. Look at Tash's work. Paradise is what she uses.

I love Wolfe black, but I have to have compassion on the parents who clean it up...I tell them:olive oil & cotton balls orstraight baby shampoo on an old washcloth or makeup remover.

I find that I don't stain with wolfe if I rinse first, then lather with Ivory soap or baby shampoo. If you rinse off the first layer, you do not redeposit the paint. Moisture is also a key. Some people just stain with some kinds/ colors. I can get away with Snaz black too, but use wolfe mostly, especially over a color (less staining that way too...)

Make sure you mositures like Julie said!! I only use Wolfe Black unless I'm doing a face that is almost totally black on a very small pale kid. If I don't put on lotion, it takes longer to come off, but even if I wash and then add lotion and wash again, it comes right off. I've also never had a child or mother complain. I do my best to get a card in everyone's hands so they all have a way to reach me if they wanted to. Plus, i've painted kids again the next day, and there is never any sign of the black Smile

Also, as bad as it is, most people in my area are used to having to wash off Palmer's paint, which is horribily difficult in every color. IMO wolfe black is easier than that so that keeps the parents reallly happy Smile

In the interest of this I went to sleep with 3 blacks on my arm Snaz, Wolfe and Tag. in the first photo they have been on for 14 hours they were all on thicker to start with.

This photo is a rinse with water with slight rubb (no soap) the wolfe had a slight stain too
LOOKING FOR BLACK FACE PAINT . IMG_1215640x480
in the third i added soap and water.
all cleaned up well.

it was not the result I expected. I was sure the wolfe would stain even after soap, and the snaz surprised me. along with Tag diserpearing after just water.
but in the end they all came of with soap and water. which to me means all good. which again surprised me.
having said all that I know I stain with dark blue in any brand but I get it of with baby lotion, olive oil, or baby oil. and every arty cake I have ever had has also stained on the black. don't know what they use.

The only thing that stains me is green, but a couple of washings and it is gone. I try to use the pearl or metalic green as much as I can as these don't seem to stain me as much. The wost, hands down, is Tulip...especially the teal green. Surprisingly, I had some tulip royal blue, and not a tad bit of staining...nothing esle seems to stain me.
