Black paint

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if so, what they do about it. I use Snazaroo black paint and have trouble with it getting really soft when it's hot outside (even under the shade). None of the other colors do this, so I suppose it is because black holds the heat more. Any ideas for keeping my black paint cool?

Black does it and sometimes dark blue.... if it's really hot and humid a couple other colours too. You can try keeping an ice pack or two under your paints.... or I think I Shannon posted once that she keeps an extra black on ice in a cooler to swap them when they get too bad.

I do not use Snaz black or put colors on ice. But just a quick question: upon removing the black from the colder conditions, wouldn't it immediately form condensation on itself? This would make my DFX/TAG *very* gloppy, but I don't know about Snaz, maybe it doesn't bother it?

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the DFX black when I order next time.

Another friend just told me that when the temperature gets really high she keeps her black under the table, brings it out when she uses it and then puts it back under the table until she needs it again.

condensation wouldn't be a problem for Snaz, it loves to be sopping wet.

You wouldn't really have to worry about condensation for DF/X black, because heat and humidity (unless it's severe humidity) doessn't really affect it, so you wouldn't need to put it in a cooler to begin with. But that's only for D F/X.

I keep the snaz black and brown under the table when it is hot too. I still use it for bases but switch to paradise for lines(or keep another snaz cool to keep switching) when the snaz is too soft. I love dfx for lines but don't use it on kids b/c it is so hard to wash off of myself.

My extra black isn't on ice, it is just new and dry. I always have a black, a white and a red cake in my kit as back-ups.

Part of the reason the Snaz black goes gooey is the heat on top of being repeatedly saturated with water... and it doesn't take much water when it is hot. When the paint gets really sticky just add a lot of water to it and work it into a liquid - ideally you'll have a hole in the cake so it works well.
