Re: Superhero designs + learning to paint myself
Supers are definitely a hit in a number of places. I do have a "Super faces" section on my board with Iron Man, Hulk, Flash, Green Lantern, Batman, Robin, Spidey, Capt America, Wolverine, Venom, Joker, Two-Face, Catwoman and Wonder Woman, as well as feminine versions....Spider Girl and Bat Girl.
Aside from Spidey and Batman, take a guess which of the rest is the most popular request.
Cool Falcon by the way! Heroes are a pretty good shtick for a male painter. I've gotten a lot of mileage from being the "superhero guy"

Love, love, love your line work - so crisp. I'm still practicing my spider webs - had a nightmare at a recent summer fair, when the little boy was soo fidgety - will def think twice abt doing spidey on little ones again
Btw, thanks so much for liking my designs on FB. Need all the confidence boosts I can get as I'm just trying to launch myself after years of doing this for free at my kids' schools fairs

Re: Superhero designs + learning to paint myself
Painting a "moving target" is always an adventure, lol! I usually politely tell Mom or Dad that little Junior has to sit still for me to get the design right. Real intricate designs, I tend to not do on really small children who won't be able to remain still for the duration. The parents almost always agree and will choose a smaller/simpler design if they know their little one isn't likely to stand still.
As for Spiderman designs on small children, that's where I usually resort to a half mask, like I did on my nephew. You can also do a 'quarter' mask, where you're only painting one eye and doing the webs just the area around it.
@crazypainter, you're definitely right about being know as "the super hero guy" I think when I do my next fair, I'm going to have to put my Falcon mask back on;)

Re: Superhero designs + learning to paint myself
when I painted at Christmas at the theme park I had to put an age restriction on the Grinch both full and cheek because all the line work they have to be super still.
Re: Superhero designs + learning to paint myself
Love your Spiderman . It has a lovey smooth, airbrushed look.

Okay, let me just say I'm stealing your Spiderman. Love the way your lines curve, it looks better than mine, so I'm stealing it. This week is spirit week at our school and Thursday is "Superhero Day". This was right on time! Everyone has already asked "Miss Vaughan" to paint their masks! Thanks for the inspiration.

Re: Superhero designs + learning to paint myself
Thanks again, everyone. I have a boys birthday party this weekend, so I know I'll be doing some more superheroes. I'll try to put up some pictures.
