New website
So many problems
Alright need some help, it has taken 5 days for this to be picked up and so far only yahoo got it have had to submit it to google and still no joy for that reason I am posting this link in the hope that a bot gets with the program,as I have been informed it could take up to a month!!!
edit
deleted link stuck to profile

next after my rant, any suggestions? I had to use some old starting out pics to fill gallery as my daughter (as I posted previously) has a sty in her eye, and is out of being painted for a week now.
Again pricing used to work by word of mouth for $60 hour,(as it was easy to remember for people) but didn’t know what to do online. No idea I am clueless when out of my comfort zone. I have suddenly lost confidence. I just wrote what my brother told me too> (sad isn't it)
And any feedback would be good I am also dyslexic so may be typos I am unaware of.
And have included meta tags, but you know how you can include a page title, for each page any suggestions for that?

You know how when you stare at you pics for to long it becomes not good enough to yourself, and also old photos not helping me here (how I hate them) I think this is happening to me with this website.
Any way thanks in advance

any comments/review would be good as I am feeling down about some old pics used. and No dolphin, no red spiderman, no puppy and a few other things.
(Also as I had a clown company steal my pictures of face book page about 6 weeks ago. I am only painting on my family as it made it very easy to make company take them down i.e. parental consent.)

Susan, I looked over your site and think it's a great start. Some of the gallery pages take a while to load because of the fancy effects on the pictures (especially the body art page.) Also, the widget you have displaying your balloons is really unnecessary. I think it would be just fine to display them like you do your face art.

I'm also a big believer in letting the pictures do the talking. I would go over the entire site and see where you can cut text. People don't like to read websites--they just want to look at pictures. Include only the most essential text and get rid of the rest. The one exception is the pricing page, where people want explanations, and the "about me" page--especially because your story is so compelling. I have a special needs child too, so I feel your pain.

There were a few typos, but it would take too long to go over them here. If I get a minute I'll PM you a copy edit of your home page (I'm a freelance writer/editor).

All in all, it's a good site. One thing I would say is that your website isn't going to get you a lot of bookings through search engines, etc. Rather, it's like having a virtual resume that you can show perspective clients. It's a great tool for showing people what you can do, but it's more likely to draw in people who have seen your work in person somewhere else.

I was advised to put in text, as it is graphic heavy and therefore skiped over by the bots,(from my hosting company) I had to go add more they said there wasn't enough. that was when I complianed about the google thing. and I actually hate the balloon thing myself but didn't know what to do.

will try somthing else latter what I don't know

but I do get alot of work from my pediatrician she also advised me to put that in as she can send people my way her name is Sue has 4 children,1 special needs child, she lives in liverpool.
I actually like painting the special needs kids it makes me feel good that I can do somthing for the familys as I went through that (and still go through that) in life.
so that in a sense I guess is so that people know they got the right person, as so far I have been - living on personal referals.

will try to do somthing with those balloons tonight - arragh what I dont know
and my dyslexia is a massive pain in the rear end, but probebly why I pursued art more.

thanks for the advise you confirmed a few things body art, balloons need fixing, an going to keep the text though as hosting company advised too add it, even though I didn't know what to write??

will work on the greater audience aspect somehow???

You built this site using FLASH, which means the web bots cannot index it, and the text is irrelevant in searches. Also, cannot be viewed on I-phone.

Have the site redone using only HTML and skip the flash.

Alright have established that the page is xhtml which is it is an advanced html capable of running Java and a few other things is dose have flash blocked.
Then I have edited the balloon page as it was irritating, changed the body art bit to not include the java effects as it was slowing it down.
Thanks for the concern on the flash, it made me check and find out and it is good to check these things, especially when I picked this build site, for that reason instead of just using wix.
Also otter girl I like your new avatar, it took a post before I realised it was you. My son loves green he only lets me paint him in green now-very occasionally, I might suggest to him a green tiger hes had green spiderman (looked awful) green car, green dragon and a few other green things too.

and I was worried about the old pics i used -LOL

Hi Elantura,

Your site does have flash, but it has it blocked not to display it, ie #flash_content { display: none; } (it might be variable though depending on browser - you have a lot of choice spots in your code depending on browser). I found your code very difficult to follow as there were many things blanked out (or opened and closed but with nothing in it), as well as odd formatting. Quite possibly the program that you used to help you added some "extra's". Just because your page has the xhtml doctype, doesn't mean it also doesn't have flash - flash is a program from Adobe, and xhtml transitional is the type of document it is (as defined by W3C). I'd say most pages call flash from xhtml.

As far as changing your title for each page, look for this code:
(title) Face painting Liverpool, Campbelltown,Sydney (/title)
The words between the opening and closing title tag (/ represents the closing tag) are the words that will be the title on that page....

Web stuff can be so overwhelming, but you are getting there. I am sending you a PM now with a copy edit of the text on your first page. I hope that helps.

Thanks, for the props on the avatar. Smile I love green too, hence the choice. After I painted it last night I was like, "why didn't I do this when it was still light outside!" I could have gotten a much better photo. Alas.

Suggestion- Do a web search for Browser Shots. It is a free service that will let you see what your site looks like in many different browsers and platforms.
