Improving line work
I printed off a bunch of designs I googled (assortment of wings, tribals and silhouette fairies) that I have been tracing with tracing paper every day to improve my line work. It has helped me a lot! It makes it easy to see which brushes are easiest for which strokes as well as seeing how some of the designs need to come together.
What about you guys? What have you done to improve your technique?

Re: Improving line work
I just paint swirls & twirls, tribals & teardrops on my arm. I also practice blending w/ a brush & w/ a sponge & play w/ colors to see what looks good together. Just play!
Re: Improving line work
Practice...practice...practice...
And when I think I have it down...
I practice some more.
I'm waiting till the day comes when line quality will be all muscle memory for me.

What a great idea!
Re: Improving line work
I also think it's a wonderful Idea. I think I may try this with some flowers to see if I can up my flower skills. They are not so good right now.
Re: Improving line work
That is a good idea. . .It might help with muscle memory to do it the exact same way every time. Like if you had a whole sheet of the same design. . .I might try that! Right now, I just practice on my arm or leg. Thanks for the tip
Re: Improving line work

Re: Improving line work
I want to have _____'s muscle memory, or _____'s muscle memory... heh
I'd list names, but... there are SO many talented artists here, I'm afraid that I might leave someone out!
Some day.
I keep telling myself...
I told someone the other day I was getting so familiar with my arm that I almost considered giving it a pet name....
hey, if the guy in the movie that was stranded on a deserted island can do it, so can I.... "wilson"

Re: Improving line work
I would just use google images and search "tiger stripes" ect. That way you can sort through for what you want quickly.
Good luck!
