Improving my set-up
Hello gang.
I'm looking to upgrade my current set-up. I don't think it reflects the professionalism I would like to communicate.
[img][/img]
The only thing that is different about this set-up is that the client provided the table and chair.
So far I have a new banner, display sign, apron, even made some hair pieces (I have dreads now). Any suggestions? Do you have photos of your set-up?

Re: Improving my set-up
You know what I think would make the biggest impact? A longer table cloth. If you made one that was brightly colored and hung to the floor it would hide the trash can/sponge bucket and really draw the eye to your corner. My own table covering is a little shorter than I would like, but you get the idea of what a little color will do.
Re: Improving my set-up
I use a longer table cloth also..I think the best is to get fabric double knit..
or cheerleading fabric..its bullett proof lol I use to coach cheerleading,,and make the uniforms..it comes in alot of colors..and it washes up really nice..
you don't have to hem it cause it won't ravel. or fray.. its 60 wide..
measure from the floor on the end of your table go up across the table and back down to the floor on the other side
if your table is 5 feet long and is 30 inches high you need 3 yards and 12 inches of fabric. or 3.33 yards.

Re: Improving my set-up
I use dollar store plastic tablecloths and coordinate the colours. (the black one on the display table was client provided)

Re: Improving my set-up
I was thinking of doing a black table cloth then using puffy paints or something to decorate with childrens hand prints to match with my logo.
Re: Improving my set-up
Black shows EVERYTHING... including lint, dust, dirt, glitter, cheezies, etc.
It looks good to start, but if you are set-up on the ground (as opposed to on a finished floor) dust kicked up off the ground ends up clinging to the table covering.
I like black as it is my background colour for all my print material... just prefer to spend less time washing the table covers.

Re: Improving my set-up
What if you used that iron on transfer paper and printed out your logo? Or the words "face painting" in big letters? Heck, you could probably even print out photos of your designs, iron them on to the front of your table cloth and let that be your display! I think I need a new table cloth now too!
Re: Improving my set-up
I put a black towel under my setup & because it's a towel it's absorbent & hides everything.
Re: Improving my set-up
Black and purple are my colors. Plastic purple table clothes with black towels over top
Re: Improving my set-up
great idea on printing the words and transfering them to the table cloth..
make sure if you are doing word to do a mirror image..or they will be backwards when you iron them on.
great idea sophie

Re: Improving my set-up
This is our set up for public events. This was indoor, but when we are outdoors we use a 10'x10' and put the banner velcroed along the back.
That is my sweet hubby "manning" the airbrush!
We prefer black as well - maybe we have less dust out here Shannon, as we have yet to run onto that problem thank goodness.
We are still searching for the best picture board method - I just saw a step by step in the last newsletter that I think may work!

Cabby, I know that you are looking for ways to improve on your set-up so I will say this. Looking at the picture I see two very important things that tell me you are a professional (to me they are the most important, everything else is eye candy). They are cleanliness and organization (from what I can see). For me, a body painter could have neon lights and go go dancers, but if their equipment was a mess it would send me running. So in my humble opinion, you already have a great start
The cheerleading fabric was a great suggestion! I know from experience too, lol!

Re: Improving my set-up
I like to use a black table cloth when I have been given a table to use. I havn't ever had problems with it looking dusty.
For outdoor events I just have a picnic table. The banner and signs I got from Vistaprint.
Both these photos the set up wasn't completely perfect but it is all I seem to have photos of.

Re: Improving my set-up
I use black foam core in my paint pallette holder and it has become a bit of a mess. That's why I decided to do handprints on it to try and disguise the spills, splatters, etc.

I like. Never thought of using a rug!

Love your set-up! I loved the DIY banner stand in the newsletter also. Looks easy to transport.
