Do you have to have a biz license everywhere you work?

Ok this sounds like a silly question, but do you have to have a seperate business license for every location you work in? I live in a rural community so I would be doing private events mostly in 2 different towns and public fairs ect in probably 7-8 communities. Does the booth registration cover me or do I need a biz license for each town? Help! hahaha

I have a friend that sells jewelry (through Just Jewelry), and she just called me and asked me to do an event with her NEXT WEEK!! I don't have insurance or a license at all yet. Suggestions? The booth is only $20, but I won't do it without insurance. I assume I can't get insurance until I have at least registered my biz name. Correct?

Are you Canada? If so, then no, you don't need to be "registered" to get insurance for your business, it will be in your name as a sole proprietor.

As to a business license... that is up to every jurisdiction. You'll have to ask them. In many areas it isn't required for our type of business.

In my state, I don't have to have a business licence. I'm in SC. Call your state/city office, and they should be able to tell you. Also, note some cities require their own licences for work coming into their city. Keep in mind, you can get very frustrated in your seach. Just note, that inside certain city limits things are under their own little world, and check the individual city pages for their information.
