Making the switch

We all know I have only used Snaz, and lots of it. I think I have ordered new Snaz paints at least three times. Finally I took a leap and ordered Tag black ,white, red and pink. Last night I used the black for the first time and almost fell out of my chair. Holy cannoli! That black is freakin BLACK!!! It's so rich!!! Omg the joy of not having to go over my linework over and over to get the black to look black enough. Snaz, I still love you. For for linework, Tag is my new best friend.

You'd die for wolfe.
Next time you need a white grab it and you will fall off your chair with how awesome it is.

I am having me a good ol time with this black though, I can't get over it. It would come out nicer if my kid wasn't a wiggle worm...

tag black is great..gets a little mushy with the heat...don't use to much water..lol... dfx black and white are the ones i like..and i love wolfe

I use DFX, thinking to try Wolfe next time i order, although im pretty happy with DFX, just wanna make sure i dont miss anything

That's how I am too, Inca, I just want to try everything because I would hate to miss something awesome. I wish there were sample sizes available.

Just my 2 cents - I bought a TAG white and have had nothing but problems with it doing line work. My Wolfe white was always wonderful. People say these are the same, but not IMHO!

Everyone certainly has a preference. I'm so in love with face paint that I love all of it haha.

Interesting. I have bought and used up more than enough of all the different beeswax/paraffin brands (DFX/TAG/Wolfe) to find that in constant use and practice there was no definable difference. Perhaps it is my longer experience that leads to this conclusion?

so they are exactly the same you say? I only tried DFX, I know another painter in my area that uses wolfe and she says her wolfe black stains more than my DFX black...

I havent used DFX yet. I was just excited about how much richer the Tag black was for lines as opposed to Snaz black.

I think there are slight variations between batches. The NEWER Wolfe and DFX whites are essentially identical... I've got both and they,,IMO, work exactly the same, with the same results.

So for new purchases I stand by my "ditto"!!

However, I have lots of OLD Wolfe white and it IS much better than the above two noted. It is glossier in the pot and more opaque on application - I think it contains more wax... it looks waxier and feels waxier on the skin.

Over the last 20 years that I have been face painting, I have used many different products. I don't think it's funny when people discuss their preferences. I think it is interesting. Like Shannon wrote, there are slight variations between batches. There are also variations in how we all use our paints. You can see what more or less water can do to a design. I say explore, enjoy, and use what you feel comfortable with to do your personal best work. Keep posting your personal feelings about products. I love reading it all!

I think alot of people keep two whites, one for line and one for bases. On another note, I don't own a wolfe black, but my partner does. I have been using the tulip black. I tried both on my arm the other night. While I found that the both were similar in loading and use between loads, the tulip was much blacker. So I went to buy more and of course they were sold out.

Most of us do! I actually have three flat whites... Snaz and Kryolan for bases, and Wolfe for linework. Also have Kryolan Interferenz silver and Snaz Sparkle White for sheer bases.

And two reds... Snaz for bases and Wolfe for details (like tongues and blood)

etc.
