Weak coverage with Snaz
I started out with Snaz, so when I ordered my 18ml's, I went ahead and ordered Snaz because that's what I am used to working with. For some reason I am getting lousy coverage with these, where I wasn't with the 2ml's. Is this a common thing with Snazaroo? Or am I doing something wrong?
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
Same to me, but only with some of my Snaz ( dark blue,...). I don´t know why. Maybe too much water?

Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
you really have to work up Snaz into a good consistency. You're probably using the same amount of water for these as you were for the smaller sizes.. try more or less water since there is more paint in the pot now. you can get a nice base with Snaz, just gotta work it right
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
Thanks guys! I will just keep playing with it. Ashley your avatar is KILLER! I love it.
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
yea, I would just keep playing with it.. I'm sure it'll start working once you get the right water/paint ratio.
Thanks, I painted it in a moment of craziness..lol.

Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
i was all over your facebook album. I am IN LOVE with that cute little owl. I know, he's simple... but I have a "thing" for cute little owls, lol. Mind if I copy him? (Not copied exactly of course, but I want to do a cute little owl now that I have seen yours)
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
yea, you can do him all you want.. he's based on a little ceramic owl that i have..lol. oh, and he was done in Snaz too..
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
Thanks for the tip, Ashley! I'll keep on trying!

Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
We all started with Snaz, but it does take a lot of work and practice getting Snaz to work really well and it has to be super new. It has its place, but it is far from being the go to paint anymore.
I would try Paradise your next go around. You will be super pleased with how easy it is to work with, great coverage, yummy smell and so many colors to choose from!

Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
I happen to have a 18ml of paradise gold that I got long before I was into face painting... it was used for a genie costume for my friend. I do love the consistency and that gold really sparkles! I am mad I just spent a hundred bucks on Snaz, it gave me no problems until I bought the larger cakes. Grrr. I guess we live and learn. Hope I can use it all up soon because hubby said no more paint until I am out or almost out.
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
No worries, your snaz will work great for you once you get the hang of it. I use mostly snaz too and get great coverage. I don't know if you can beat Snazaroo for smooth blending, and it lasts longer than other brands too.
Are you using a sponge or a brush with your cakes? Do you spray your paints with water, or wet your brush? Snazaroo isn't as great for brushwork. It works best with a sponge, and you need to really work it up into a cream like Ash mentioned. Try spritzing the cake and then dragging your sponge across the surface over and over again. Spritz as needed and keep wiping until you feel like the sponge is well loaded. Then pat it across the skin and see how it goes.

I use a dropper and drip a couple drops of water onto the cake for sponging. For brushing I wet the brush. I wonder if I am being too skimpy with it. I did a butterfly on my kid about 10 minutes ago that covered nicely, then did a tiger on the neighbor immediately after and the coverage was somewhat spotty. I will make sure to really load up the sponge like you suggested. Thank you
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
You might try getting a mist bottle and spritzing the cake when using a sponge and see if that helps. I like droppers for brush work but spraying works best for me when sponging because I can pick up more a consistent spread of paint that way.
Have fun!

Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
yeah, you need a kind of dry sponge and water worked into the paint... the more you can pick up, the better your coverage. I love Snaz, the smell of Paradise drives me batty.
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
I am with perry. I use completely dry sponges and I spritz my cakes with a water bottle. It just takes getting used to working the color.

Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
I first started with Snaz and was really unhappy with it. I went around and tried a whole lot of different paints. One day I went back to my snaz and suddenly I had it figured out. I am fan of Snaz for all my bases as I find I can get a nice light smooth finish with it. Details I prefer to use other colours, especially back and white.
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
I agree, Snaz takes some working w/ but does well for bases. I still can't get any good linework w/ it & mainly use it w/ a sponge. I like their sparkle colors because they have a softer look for small children.
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
Been playing around with it daily and getting some better results, but I agree with ya'll, it practically useless for linework unless I go back over it three times. Though Ashley's avatar is done with ALL snaz, so I know it's possible.
Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
Yeah, too much better spritzing the cake!! You helped me soooooo much!

Re: Weak coverage with Snaz
I use Snaz for bases too - I find it more gentle for the kids faces and then use diamond fx or tag for line work.
Lately I've found all kinds of paint reacting strangely and have realized it's when they've got sunscreen on - I have to rework the paint to make sure it covers evenly.
