My New Neighbor Empty My New Neighbor

Post by Psalmbook Sat Jun 25, 2011 10:54 am

I have a new neighbor. He's a Vietnam Vet, injured in action(brain injury). He's got the flags, the tattoos & carries a gun! He's very patriotic & also very scary... I want to respect him for all he's done for our country but he's eluded to shooting anyone that messes w/ him, talked about how he killed a previous neighbors dog over a dispute & other, not normal things. I'm not sure he's ALL THERE if you know what I mean... He has decided the house 3 doors down from me is a drug house(it may be possible) & wants to clean up the neighborhood(not a bad thing), but I really don't want to be in the cross fire of this thing. The cops are out often & we now lock our doors all day long. He's not a renter, but has actually bought the house. OK, I've vented a bit....

Wouldn't it be nice not to have to have neighbours?

Keep safe... at least he won't be out with his gun looking to straighten you out... but I would keep out of his way as much as possible, just in case

good luck

Oh Linda that's terrible. I'd stay well out of his way & lock all my doors & windows. It seems crazy to me how someone who may not be the full quid is able to hold a gun license, it just seems a recipe for disaster. Stay safe.

My New Neighbor Empty Re: My New Neighbor

Post by Denise Cold Sat Jun 25, 2011 11:03 pm

I hate to say it, but you should probably report it to the police. Anyone that would shoot a dog out of spite will end up shooting someone or many people. You don't want to be the neighbor they interview that says "he mostly kept to himself" stuff after the fact.

So are the cops out there for him? Or is he calling the cops?

I'm sorry. I've been pretty lucky in the neighbor department in the past. I would document the weird things on a calendar or on the computer so that when he does something that tips the scales, you'll have a report of the weird things in the past.

My New Neighbor Empty Re: My New Neighbor

Post by eva Sat Jun 25, 2011 11:19 pm

Let me give you advice from someone who lives in a town with lots of crazy neighbors.... avoid this person. I hope you haven't already given the impression you will be more than polite neighbors. If he seems to want to talk all the time or hang out, I would slowly ween that. God gives us a gift of discernment, and if you have that nagging feeling, then you should heed the warning.

We own our house, and our neighbors ( one my mom, and one best friend , and a few more) on my street our great, but the street behind me, I have a sex offender in my back yard that raped his step daughter, a child, who owns, and an apartment building that is scummy. I avoid all of these neighbors. I hate to judge, but I find these type of relationships stressful on my household.

I will be praying for your situation. I hope the best for you

This is indeed a tough one..We have had mongrel mob neighbours renters thank goodness..they used to bark all night long when they drank..They would vomit right outside my bedroom window and fight like mad..YAY they left after 8 months..we had the next 2 tenants being normal human beings nd then there were the last neighbours...ARGH fight fight fight...my children were scared it was terrible.. they moved out after I repeatly rang the cops because the grandad was out in the middle of the road brown eyeng and flashing his rivals..SCARY freaky man..YES I prayed but I also did a victory dance in the back yard when they moved out. lol
I really pray that this man gets some help and that your family will remain safe. I agree with Eva you will have to live very close to your discernment...I really feel you ya!

My New Neighbor Empty Re: My New Neighbor

Post by Denise Cold Sun Jun 26, 2011 12:50 am

We had a really bad renter stuck in a house we owned once. The poor neighbors were calling the police, etc. Even though we knew from day one (literally) that we wanted him out, it took us 3 months to get him out. Some stupid lawyer told us that we couldn't lock him out (long story) before he moved in. Worse advice ever.

Anyway...my point is I hope you have the landlord's number if there are bad renters because they should have in their contract that they can evict if the tenant does something illegal (they should if they don't) and will probably be grateful for the opportunity to get them out. Usually crazy people will destroy an apartment...appeal to their bank book.

I'm so sorry.

that sounds so scary. especially knowing he has a gun and is willing to use it. i don't think i would be able to sleep knowing he was there.
i had a really bad experience when i 1st moved out and was 5 mths preggo. the neighbours were rough as guts up drinking all night and fighting. the night i moved in they came knocking on my door asking to use the phone and borrow some money. they were also aboriginal( nothing wrong with that) except we are not and they did not like that and kept calling us Vikings and abusing us. we were relocated 3 day's later. a few months down the track they burnt that house down and then our stupid government gave them a new one. crazy. now i live in the country i have a nurse one side and sheep the other. bliss

Wow Linda, that is so scary! Stay safe and AVOID AVOID AVOID this person.
Good luck!

Before we moved to CT my husband was here for the interview and he went to check out this place in the middle of no where, he took videos of this beautiful apartment in a 2 family home (very common here) it had a chef's kitchen, it was GORGEOUS!!!!! well, in the video I saw a man and i asked who that was, my husband told me he was the owner/landlord and also a Vet, so yeah, we never rented the place. I was so worried he would have the key, my husband is always away and where are the neighbors???? I just though I would share my little story.

I spoke w/ him a few times before he moved in & a few after. My son mowed his lawn once, but has stopped due to his asthma(thank God for a medical condition to give us an excuse out). He is an owner, not a renter, so we're sort of stuck w/ him. We sleep on that side of the house as well as my kids, so it's a little scary... He's the one calling the cops, so I know they know about him. I'm just praying God will keep us safe & work the situation out. Thank you for your prayers! Ya'll are awesome!

Hi Linda

Sorry to hear about that. When you do not have security and peace of mind, it is hard to enjoy life

I feel that prayers of protection are the best plan for now along with remaining watchful. Can you talk to the police and ask for advice and perhaps whether they have past records of him.

I will pray for you too.

Blessings to your family and home
