Hello from (somewhat) sunny California!
I am brand spanking new to face painting and looking for every pointer, tip, and tutorial I can get my hands on!
My name is Alora and I hail from Northern California. I graduated art college in Denver as an illustrator and have been looking to put my art to work since then. At the moment, I'm a doll artist and vend at a couple of festivals throughout the year, but I'm really, really interested in face painting.
About three months ago, I went to Disneyland and found myself looking longingly at the face painting booths near the Matterhorn Mountain. I loved the designs and was stunned by how little time it took for the artists to complete them. In my mind I found myself wishing I could do that and then...I realized I CAN do that. That idea kind of simmered in the back of my mind for a while before I randomly came across some really good 'how to videos' on youtube. After watching each video at least three times and steadily building an online library of tutorials, I decided it might be a better idea to learn by doing. Sooo...about a week and a half ago, I splurged and bought a few brushes a 12 pack from DFX, and one rainbow cake. Ever since then, I've been practicing on my friends faces and my own. I still have a long way to go, but I'm loving the process so far and would love to make this apart of my artistic repertoire.
I'm so excited to learn everything I possibly can!

Welcome! You've come to the right place - there are so many wonderful painters on here and they're really helpful with their experience and advice, it's been a great 'find' for me - I'm sure you'll enjoy it too

Re: Hello from (somewhat) sunny California!
Welcome!
I seethe BUG bit you hard....tee hee.
I am new here and I started at Walt Disney World here in Florida seven years ago after my husband died, and I felt poorly prepared to return to critical care nursing at the time.
Working at Disney was a blessing for me as it was not a suggestion, but a total requirement to smile and be happy, and it did a great job of getting me by a tough time. I also found out that I was always going to want to do this, and rejoice in being able to make both myself and others happy with paint and glitter.
So come here share and learn, and see what happens!
Blessings

Welcome violet, too
I don't know if you need a license to face paint in Mexico, you'd need to contact your local authorities and find out that way. Good luck
